Tags Over brunch, Amy and Renee learn a little bit more about the side business that Fortune conducts. Hunter seems less eager to speak about the inner workings of Fortune, despite the privacy of the table in the restaurant. The two women are also briefed about the upcoming meetings with various clients and suppliers from overseas. Due to the differences between Hunter and Jay’s jobs in the company, Renee and Amy will have different duties for the meeting.
While Amy is expected to take extensive notes, Renee will only need to take minimal notes.
“We’ll also have to make sure that the two of you are familiar with all of the property that Fortune owns,” Jay cracked his knuckles. “All of that will be useful for you when we’re conducting business, of course.’
“Of course,” Renee said, folding her cloth napkin neatly and placing it on her plate. “Could you give us any information about the property without us having to physically see it?”
Hunter cleared his throat, “some of the holdings are residential, for employees that are from overseas locations. We maintain two working factories, one on Long Island and the other in New Jersey in addition to three warehouses.” Shrugging slightly, he continued, “That’s most of the major buildings in this area.”
Amy arched an eyebrow, “And do we also need to be familiar with other domestic holdings and international holdings?”
“It couldn’t hurt,” Jay suggested vaguely, “but it isn’t absolutely crucial for your job.. Except maybe it is, Ms. Dumas.”
Amy and Renee exchanged a look at that, the two women deciding that it would probably be in their best interest to figure out a list of all of the property owned by Fortune in the near future.
“Well,” Jay removed a silver cigarette case, opening it and removing one, tapping the cigarette on the table. “As much as I’m enjoying the lovely company,” blue eyes lingered on Amy and then slid to Renee. “I have an appointment with my private chef.. Unless of course, Ms. Dumas.. You would be interested in that as well?”
Hunter pushed his chair back from the table, “the tab is already covered, right?”
The shorter blond man nodded, standing as well. “Fortune has this covered, but you all are welcomed to stay if you wish.”
“As much as we appreciate the generosity, we really should go,” Renee spoke for herself and Amy. “Laundry, grocery shopping… things like that.”
Jay waited for the two women to exit the private room, “of course. Well, Ms. Dumas, I’ll be in touch if I require your assistance.” Cigarette now tucked atop his ear, he removed a zippo from his suit jacket pocket, “Ms. Young, it was a pleasure to make your acquaintance.”
Amy smiled tightly, “have a pleasant weekend, Mr. Cage.”
He laughed, free hand on the small of her back, fingertips treading dangerously low. “How many times do I need to insist that you call me Christian?”
“As many as I need to reply that it just wouldn’t be appropriate.”
Hunter coughed into his fist, “Ms. Dumas, will you need a ride back to the building?”
Amy sent her friend a grateful smile, “thank you Mr. Levesque, I would appreciate it.”
