Dr. Jamie Sky proudly placed her framed medical degree on the wall of her office; the blonde woman recently opening her practice in Waltham, Massachusetts just outside of Boston. Jamie had spent one year in co-practice with her Uncle and her father before deciding that she was ready to branch out on her own. She shared her practice with a fellow pediatrician and graduate of Harvard Medical School, Dr. Allen ‘A.J’ Dumas-Jones.

The pair also shared a distinction with several other students of being amongst the few whose parents hadn’t paid for their undergraduate and medical school, the foursome now in the same practice. Dr. Amy Dumas-Jones, a Pediatric Cardiologist, is a specialist and a consultant for the practice though primarily saw patients at the main Children’s Hospital in Boston while Dr. William Jason Sky, a Pediatric Surgeon, is also a specialist and a consultant for the practice though primarily being stationed at the main Children’s Hospital in Boston. The fact that Amy and A.J are stepsiblings and William and Jamie are twins have absolutely nothing to do with their being in practice together.

Currently, Dr. Sky was waiting for a candidate for the open position for a Nurse Practitioner in the practice. The practice also employed four registered nurses, but the budget couldn’t allow for the hiring of another doctor.

“Hey Jamie?” A.J called from the hallway, “Ames wants to know if you and Jay would like to join us for dinner tomorrow night.”

“Can’t she just ask Jay?” Jamie questioned, sitting on her desk for the time being as no patients were scheduled until later that morning.

A.J smirked a little, “you know how they are. Even if they work at the same hospital, she still refuses to talk to him.”

Jamie shook her head, “but she did keep the ring, didn’t she?”

A.J shrugged, “I’m pretty sure that she did but she still doesn’t like to talk about it.”

“Understandable,” Jamie replied, straightening a framed picture of herself, her brother and her best friend. “Anyway, let her know that we’d love to and I’ll bring the wine.”

“Will do,” A.J said and then returned to a seated position behind his desk, turning on his desktop computer so he could check patient charts.

“Dr. Sky?” Maria Kanellis, receptionist for the practice stepped into the back hallway, “there’s a Mr. Joshua Sabin here to see you.”

“Send him back, Maria, thank you.” Jamie replied and then took a seat behind her desk, waiting for the interviewee.

“I’m sorry if I’m late Dr. Sky,” Josh Sabin, NP began, “I’m still not used to driving in Boston.”

Jamie smiled and then glanced up to meet his eyes, the woman quickly taking in the sincerity and honesty she found there. “That’s perfectly all right, Mr. Sabin. Please, have a seat.” Mentally, the blonde doctor berated herself. This was an interview, not a blind date. “I’m not sure what else I can really tell you about the practice that I haven’t told you over the phone or that my associate, Dr. Dumas-Jones may have told you with your last interview.”

“We’re a small practice in terms of staff, currently employing four RN’s and two full time pediatricians. We also consult with a Pediatric Cardiologist and a Pediatric Surgeon. But despite the small practice, we do serve numerous families in the greater Boston area.”

Josh nodded, smoothing his sweaty palms over his dress pants and trying not to stare too much at the blonde doctor. He hadn’t thought to ask about her during his first interview with Dr. Dumas-Jones but he knew that Dr. Sky was a woman… he just didn’t know that she was an extremely attractive woman.

“Do you have any questions for me regarding your hours, salary or duties?” Jamie arched an eyebrow, “Mr. Sabin?”

Josh could have kicked himself, “I’m sorry about that…. I … wait, does that mean I have the job?”

Jamie couldn’t suppress the smile, “yes. Dr. Dumas-Jones was impressed with you so this interview was just so I could meet you and make a decision.” She stood, reaching across her desk and offered her hand, “I would like to be the first to welcome you to the practice.”

Josh shook her hand, a wide grin on his face as he did so. Somehow he had a feeling that he was going to enjoy working here.
