Diary Entry - Trish Stratus

2nd of September, 2005

We arrived safely in France yesterday afternoon, the McMahon property located approximately 20 minutes outside of Paris… and speaking of the property, hardly what any of us were expecting! From the way Shane had spoken, we were all anticipating a house or perhaps an apartment… but, then again, I suppose nothing less than splendor for the McMahon family. The home is hardly the size of the manor in England, but just as breathtaking. We all have our own rooms and bathrooms, so that is most definitely appreciated. When we entered the home, I felt as though I had stepped back in time. Amy tells me that the architectural style dates back to the 17th century and Shane informed all of us that the house had been completely restored over the past several years. Renovations had included obtaining period style furnishing and decorations amongst modern updates to the appliances. Really, the house is stunning. And from what I understand, all of the family properties are similar in wealth and grandeur.

We leave a week from tomorrow, instead of only staying for two days because Shane’s father will be away longer than initially expected, and most of our time has been left free, save for one mandatory trip to the ballet. And believe me; none of us are particularly thrilled about that. But, it’s a cultural opportunity … and we get to dress up. So, I guess it won’t be all that bad. Plus, we’ve all been given some spending money while we’re here…not that we really need the allowance, but who am I to look a gift horse in the mouth…

I enjoy being here already and I’m sure that this break will do us all a world of good, but I miss Adam. It worries me that I haven’t heard from him since he left… I mean, you’d think the guy would have an e-mail address or something, right? Of course, I forgot to ask before he left but… maybe Amy knows. Or at the very least, she could ask Jay and he could ask Adam. I’ll have to ask her about that during breakfast… or, excuse me, petit dejeuner.

Trish shut down her laptop, giving her hair a quick brush before exiting her assigned bedroom in the spacious chateau. Lisa and Amy were staying in the same area, but after looking quickly and seeing the open doors, Trish realized that they had already gone downstairs. It seemed that ever since they’d come overseas, Amy and Lisa were always getting up earlier than usual. But, now that she didn’t have her two friends to rely on, the blonde woman was left to her own devices to find the breakfast nook. Maybe she should have asked for a map when they arrived… frowning slightly, she navigated easily to the main staircase, descending to the foyer and then stopping so she could decide where to go next. Fortunately for her, Scott soon appeared, the dark haired man graciously escorting her to the terrace where everyone else had already gathered.

“Bonjour,” Paul greeted first, the blond man and his cousin standing as Trish entered. “We were just about to begin the meal.”

Trish smiled in return, seating herself between Amy and Lisa. “Are we all going into the city today?”

Lisa nodded, “I’m pretty sure… we think that taking a tour together might be fun. Or at least we can attempt to take a tour together.”

“Even if all of us aren’t here,” Amy added, giving Trish’s hand a friendly squeeze. “But, think of it this way… if there’s something that you really enjoyed, you can always come back another time.”

“Very true,” Trish agreed and then lowered her voice, “do you know if Adam has an e-mail address? I would send him a letter, but I’m not sure how long it would take to get there.”

Amy chewed lightly on her lower lip, waiting for her tea to cool. “I can ask Jay… he’s got one, so I don’t see why Adam wouldn’t… I can also drop the hint that maybe you’d like to hear from Mr. Copeland?”

Trish nearly blushed, “if you wouldn’t mind, that would be great.”

“I wouldn’t have offered otherwise,” Amy replied before taking a slow sip of her tea. “I’m sure everything’s fine and that they’ll be back before we know it.”

“Have you heard from him?” Trish questioned, thanking the house servant for the food before her attention went back to Amy.

“Last night,” Amy admitted, picking at the croissant that was set in front of her. “They’re still making funeral arrangements, and then they’ve got a whole bunch of legal issues to sort out. Turns out that this relative of theirs never left a will, so everyone is trying to claim something… depending on what the lawyers decide, they might be there longer than initially expected.”

Trish couldn’t help but frown, “well that really sucks.”

Amy nodded, taking a small bite of the croissant. “If it all comes down to it, one of them might come back early. But they haven’t decided yet.”

Trish decided not to comment about that, instead turning her attention over to Paul. “So, we’re taking a city tour?”

Paul nodded in confirmation, “both to actually view some of the historical landmarks as per the itinerary set forth at the beginning of the academic year… and to acquire appropriate attire for the ballet.”

A chorus of groans was heard from John, Chris, and Randy; Lisa grimacing as well. “I don’t suppose we can just go in jeans?”

Paul chuckled, “absolutely not. The ballet will be in the Palais Garnier and we must look the part.”

Lisa frowned, “you could have told us that… then maybe we could have brought our ball gowns.”

Paul scoffed, “nonsense. To do as such would be a social faux-pas.”

Amy arched an eyebrow, “even though it’s highly unlikely that anyone else at that ball would also be in Paris?”

“That’s not the point,” Paul replied, “at all times, you are all representing the McMahon family.”

“I understand,” Amy said, setting aside the uneaten half of the croissant. “When are we leaving for the city?”

“In an hour,” Shane informed her and everyone else in the process. “So, if you were planning on strolling the grounds, don’t stray too far.”

Lisa and Trish exchanged a look behind Amy’s back, the blonde woman eying the half eaten pastry critically. “I know it’s called petit dejeuner, but…”

Lisa nodded, watching as the redhead descended the stairs from the outdoor terrace to the lower terrace. “It’s like she’s asking for trouble or something.”

“I could go with her,” Scott began, the dark haired man already on his feet when Paul clapped a hand on his shoulder.

“That won’t be necessary,” the blond man spoke abruptly. “I’ll go.” After excusing himself quickly, and taking along the half eaten croissant along with a few slices of bread, Paul left the breakfast table.

“Well, I suppose we should finish eating if we are to leave on time,” Shane proposed to the somewhat baffled group. He would have accompanied Amy if Paul hadn’t offered, the two cousins keeping a keen watch on the redhead. But, perhaps it was for the best since Shane did have to check his e-mail before they went into Paris.

Shane knew, just as Amy did, that the two blond cousins would be delayed in Romania for quite some time. He was also aware that one of them would be returning sooner rather than later, but unlike Amy, he already knew that Adam would be returning first. There were further disturbances, both in Romania and elsewhere, that had Jason concerned. Shane’s father was already investigating one of the trouble spots while Jason would be investigating the other. But, none of the students needed to know that, and as such, Shane remained silent.
