"Today is the big day," the boy said. "Today is the day I fulfill the dreams whispered to me in the night." The words had the taste and rhyme of a promise.

"Everyday, everytime I see you, you say the same," the sun laughed at the boy from outside his window, her light filling all the world.

"Because every day, when I feel your light and see it spread throughout the land, I know that all things are possible. As long as I have your light, dear sun, I feel as if all my dreams are just there, so close I could touch them, I see them so near." The boy smiled and stood bravely bathed in the gentle warmth, his eyes sparkling with sand from his night of dreaming and the brilliant light of his day of promise.

The sun blushed, burning the brighter, and said: "Mayhap my light is tricking your eyes, for I believe your dreams are tall and far from here, but I will laugh at you no longer. Know that it will be my honor to shine on you the day you reach those dreams, so that I may clearly watch you attain heights taller than even I can imagine."

"For you, for me, I will." The boy answered, words as sure as a sunrise.

The promises between sun and boy were kept, on a day when all the world shone.
