Branches
Division Leaders: Sentry
The commander-in-charge of the battle group, and support and headquarters units of a given area in the city. S/he focuses on the districts/tunnels in-between Quadrants to take role and watch the entrance/exits of his/her area. S/he is essentially expected to take up every role as circumstances dictate.
- Minato (Center Quadrant)
- Sven (Forest Quadrant)
- ______ (Amusement Park/Carnival Quadrant)
- Jack Harkness (Pirate Ship Quadrant)
Battle Group: Police
Combatants who insure the safety of locals and foreigners alike during chaotic incidents. The group is divided into two sections: Patrol (watch) and Military (fight). Certain members may be assigned to both for instances requiring immediate action. Patrol should only engage in combat if absolutely necessary or if Military is present, as their secondary role is to relay notice of possible incident. While awaiting instruction, Military remain and protect their base.

Out of Character Guide & FAQ
Commonly abbreviated VDF (Vatheon/Volunteer Defense Force), the Defense Force is a protection unit of sort that strives to maintain order throughout the bubble during chaotic times. Its purpose is to get the situation in order and reduce casualty when events or player plots take place. (However, it won’t intrude on the latter beyond lightly stepping in at best unless granted express permission.) That said, it isn’t a completely physical organization since it endorses a balanced approach to making Vatheon a safer environment.
Role call is held when deemed necessary, while volunteer posts occur bi-monthly in character. The roster and role assignments change on a daily basis to accommodate veterans and newcomers alike. Those lacking the skills to do part but wishing to learn need only request lessons to sit in with a more experienced member and observe.
Members are assigned to one of three present Quadrants, where they serve as few as one or as many as four roles according to their qualifications. Each Quadrant’s activities are spearheaded by a sentry, effectively one of four sub-commanders within the Defense Force. Each area has a base that was set up in an empty building, where the Logistics, Relief, and Technology branches work. Military from Battle Group also rest here prior to being called out by Patrol.
Some volunteers may have been assigned two or more roles that seem to temporally overlap one another; in this case, the member is expected to balance his/her duties and rotate between them. In the case of Logistics/Relief/Technology, the work stays at the Quadrant base; combined with Police or Sentry, s/he would communicate with the rest of their team via StarFish Communicator and filters or work at the base after his/her watch shift. Actual time tables will be handwaved and assumed by the players for simplicity’s sake and ease of plotting.
The character is not expected to do his/her part 24/7. If the area is exceptionally stable, s/he can take a break. As well, if there are multiple characters in a team, they can always take turns and save each other some time.
In the event a volunteer is unavailable to fulfill his/her role for one reason or another (dropped, sleep coma, etc.), one department -- usually Logistics -- will contact one of several backups to fill in, preferably someone assigned to the same Quadrant. In certain circumstances where one or more Quadrants is stable while another isn’t, teams can merge and finish the job as a team more efficiently.
Periodic meetings take place in the Center Quadrant base for the purpose of keeping the members up to date and doubling as another form of role call. The frequency of these meetings depend on the current events of Vatheon. The more hectic, the more likely it is that volunteers will be asked to convene.

* In character, the promise of "more details in the near future" for characters who were interested already should have happened via voicemail, which I guess would be handwaved at this point. They would have been told the basics of everything above: what they're doing at which Quadrant and whom they'll be working with.
--
If you would like your character to join the Defense Force or would like to amend what they have to offer/fill in more information on them, just fill out this form and we'll get them added ASAP! Most of the adding to the DF is handwaved. I'll sort everyone into their roles when I have a better idea of what roles they should be fitting into.
If they're looking to be a leader, let me know. Minato and I would both like the help. Hey, he's just a high school kid. Thanks, guys!
