So I'm excited to alert you all that the orchids are doing well, they seem really happy with the spring weather (which we're finally getting). I've got some pictures to post, so have fun.
I had some trouble with my camera, the flash wouldn't come on, so if they're a little dark I apologize.
On another note, I folded my graduation announcements today! I have to address them still, and I'm considering printing them on as I'm paranoid about hand addressing them.
I've been working on my peace corps app, and I don't have much more to do, just the essays, resume, and recommendations, I've asked 3 people and one has said yes. The essays are hard b/c you have a huge topic to answer to in 250-500 words.
Anyway, on to the photos for now!
This is new growth on my cattleya, technically a mini-cattleya, species unknown. This will become a pseudobulb, like the other growth you can see around it.
Root growth! This is a really good sign, as in an article I just read I learned my cattleya is a 'root before bloom', meaning she might still get blooms! I thought the time had passed, and that it just wasn't in the cards, but I found she could bloom in the fall, winter, or spring. In this photo (strange I know) the white in the top is the old root, and you can see a little green nodule coming from it, thats a new root. also, the green/white coming toward the camera is a new root, about an inch long now.
Here you can more clearly see the old roots, orchids are a little creepy, i know, but the green nodule is new root growth!! There is another old root with 2 new roots growing on it, but due to placement and flash not working I couldn't get a clear photo. Maybe tomorrow in daylight.
This is new growth on my Paphiopedilum iratsume, that happy new little leaf in there. Cute yeah? This plant is tiny, ps, so it's super cute.
All for now, I might take some more tomorrow and bore you all with my love for plants.
