A Game of Thrones

I finished reading A Game of Thrones by George R. R. Martin last night and have already moved on to the next book in the Song of Ice and Fire Series, A Clash of Kings. The book is 800+ pages so it took a while to get through. The first part of the book took more time to get through since there are loads of characters and getting the lay of the ( Read more... )

I have difficulty reading fantasy series with huge numbers of characters. I tend to forget who everyone is and then get frustrated, but this series has been recommended so many times that I should really just read it.
Though your comment about using the online encyclopedia makes me wary...

It's really good, don't let anything I say throw you. I think the good part is that even while you don't feel sure of everyone it is very interesting. You don't have trouble getting the main characters who are driving the story, it's more a matter of wanting to make connections to a lot of the names in the background. It's nice that the encyclopedia is there if you want it though.
