§ Una [Voice/Action] §

[There's a New Feather in the white dress stepping into the square and looking around at everything with great interest, the book in her arms, but there's a couple of things that are slightly off about her. She doesn't seem to have any problem being barefoot, and her wings don't flutter about nearly as much as most new people, though her head keeps ( Read more... )

[Rydia pauses and changes direction, once she notes the New Feather outfit. She hasn't had much time to help New Feathers directly, but perhaps she can aid now. Upon approaching and hearing Luna, she raises an eyebrow.]

...prison? Death Eaters?

[Just what had this girl done?]

You're taking this rather calmly, for someone so new.

[And Luna turns quickly at the sound of the new person's voice, though she doesn't react in any surprise at the fact that Rydia's hair is green and her clothing is - for lack of a better word - unusual.]

This place is much better than Azkaban, even if I'm not sure that it's real. The Death Eaters aren't known for being nice, you know, and this seems too nice for them.

Luceti is real enough, though I wish it wasn't. Once you're here long enough, you'll see that it isn't that nice at all. Unless you prefer enforced experiments to prison.

[Rydia pauses, realizing that outburst wasn't the best way to greet a newcomer.]

...actually, I don't know. What are Death Eaters? And why were you in Az--that place?

[As long as the girl isn't panicked and prone to blunt answers -something which Rydia appreciates- it doesn't hurt to get some information of her own. At least enough to make up her own mind about who she would be helping.]

[She is so blunt it can be like being hit with a sledgehammer. But at times it can be a useful sledgehammer. And considering the questions, she's labeling Rydia as "muggle."]

Oh, they're the ones causing all the nasty accidents and deaths nowadays. I hope you haven't been captured by them as well, because if we have to fight I don't know if I could protect both of us if you don't have a wand, and I don't know any good charms against being detected so I couldn't hide you with a Disillusionment Charm. And I wasn't in Azkaban, but I'm fairly sure I was going to be - I woke up here though, and I definitely prefer this.

...you world sounds about as fun as this place. I don't use a wand, but I have magic of my own--not that either will help us against Them.

[Pause, might as well start from the beginning. The girl doesn't give her that 'must avoid' feeling, so she figures it's time for some explanations. And since she's so calm and blunt, Rydia doesn't hold back.]We weren't kidnapped by your Death Eaters, but there is a group called the Malnosso who treat us as test subjects. People from many different worlds and times are brought to this realm. The wings are their fault; I'd leave them alone unless you feel like dying and even then, death isn't always permanent in this place. Surrounding this town and land is a barrier that keeps us in and...other things out. Our magic isn't as powerful as it was, thanks to the Malnosso ( ... )

[And Luna listens through that entire speech, expression not changing one bit from slightly puzzled acceptance. And when it's over...]

So we really can't fly with these wings? That's a pity.

[She blinks at that, certainly expecting more in the way of questions.]

I wish...and at one point, there was an event that allowed some people to gain bigger wings and fly, but I wouldn't expect that to happen again.

If you want your clothes and things back, I can show you to the stores. For some reason, the Malnosso have it arranged like that. As long as you had your items on you at the time, they should all be there.

...oh, and I'm Rydia of Mist. I should have introduced myself sooner, but you had my curious.

That's all right, I don't mind. Not many people introduce themselves to me.

[It doesn't sound like that bothers her, though, and she keeps watching Rydia with some mild interest.]

Would these shops have my wand? I'm not sure if I still had it with me when I was captured.

[Rydia frowns a little at that earlier comment, but the question distracts her.]

If you had it with you, yes. If not...I don't think so, but it certainly wouldn't hurt to check. Even if you don't find the one you had, it might be possible to get another.

That's good. I'd really prefer my wand since they can be so temperamental, and it would be inconvenient to not have one working properly if we were attacked, but any wand is better than no wand. Would they be over here, then?

[And she starts drifting towards the shops - the entirely wrong shop, though.]

...temperamental wands?

[About to ask Luna to elaborate when she notices the girl heading in the wrong direction.]

Wait! It's this way.

[Pointing in the right direction...but eh, might as well lead her straight there, so she heads over there, too.]

[Oh well that works too. And she vaguely heard that first bit, so when Rydia tries to steer her she just goes along with it.]

Wands bond somewhat to their owners, so any wand will let you cast spells, but one that you have allegiance with will be much better and more successful.

eidolon_soul October 12 2009, 18:37:22 UTC
[Oh, good. The weapons shop is not too far...and Rydia assumes Luna will want that place first, since her wand is likely to be there.]

That's interesting! My world has various weapons suited for mages, but I wouldn't say we're bonded to any particular one. Do you have to do anything to gain allegiance, or does it just...happen?

lunarwit October 13 2009, 09:35:14 UTC
Well you try many when you're wanting to buy one and one will fit with you. Or if you beat someone somehow their wand might decide it likes you better. Are these real?

[She's in the shop now and the glittery pointy things have her interest and she's drifting over to look at them. Luna with a sword? Kind of an alarming thought.]

[Luna's lore about wands reminds her of the Law of Summoning, a little. She can understand needing to defeat something or someone before being able to use it/them in battle. She glances to the swords and nods, raising an eyebrow as she has trouble imagining Luna using one.]

The weapons in the shop are all real, and many belong to New Feathers who have yet to reach this place. Since we come from many times and many worlds, there's a large variety. The barracks are nearby, too, for people who want to train.

A barracks? I haven't heard that word in awhile. [And while she trails along the lines of sharp pointy things for a minute and runs a hand along some of the hilts, she doesn't actually pick one up. Instead, her focus turns to cover the whole room, eyes a little wide as if trying to peer in every direction at the same time.] I wonder where they would put a wand...
