is this to emo kid?

Hey, I am taking a poetry class, but I'm not sure if I suck or not so I'm going to post them on here for people to read them, and tell me what they think, I'm not trying to be all emo kid and shove my emotions out there for everyone to see, well I am but not for that reason, I just want to see how my poems go over. I have no idea whats with me and beng afraid to become an emo kid lol. It must be a silly phobia, yet another to ad to the list. Here is the poem for today.

“The Life I’ve invented”

I used to know you.
I used to loathe you.

Mow

I work to move forward,
no longer letting the ether pulse through my veins.

Now

that I’ve allowed the smooth blue velvet to flow
through my veins,
your foreign;
the wild carnival of Brazil.

Now

that I hear the music from another room, my veins
twitch with excitement,
no longer constricted
by synching blue scarves.

Now

roaming consciousness
separates me from that former loathsome soul

Now

I’ll never know you,
no matter how far I chase you.
