Welcome to Luceti, that journal you found actually is connected to a network of many other journals. It's rather like a den den mushi network, if you have those in your world, but with a much broader range.

Not mochi. Just den den mushi. They're telepathic snails with machinery hooked up to them so that they can convey their messages over long distances.

Oh, that wouldn't be edible then.. Well, they eat snails in France but I wouldn't want to eat one! They seem so slimy and just.. yucky! Communicating with snails would be sort of cool though..

Correct, completely inedible. They are rather fun to use, eh. I miss them a little, but the journals are very handy too. More direct.

I had a cell phone to communicate with everyone else!

In that case.. They're like little electronic devices that you can use to call other people with! And they have.. buttons with numbers and everything!

They're actually not that difficult at all to use.. And it's easier than a regular phone, since you can carry them around with you.
