Mafia - Day 3

May 08, 2007 20:19

The ominous howling during the night puts the villagers extremely on edge as the day dawns and anxious villagers emerge, hoping that there has been no tragedy during the night.

Faces are counted. People bang on doors to wake their friends.

Slowly the realisation dawns. Yartek isn't there. Fearing the worst, the villagers go to investigate the house. ( Read more... )

Damn. no inventing for us. what now; wait for rossb's accurate prediction and target maker, or ask him to make a vague comment saying who he trusts? Or is it back to lists of whom we suspect. we dont need a target right this time, we can still win, but it'll certainly help morale.

I think from now on I'll only anounce that someone is innocent if they seem to be about to be lynched.

The current situation isn't much good because

1) Its a bit rubbish that whoever I end up suspecting and checking out is likely to die anyway whatever the result.

2)If the wolves kill people as soon as I name them as innocent it prevents us from narrowing down the suspects so much. If I manage to build up a list of 2 or 3 innocent people it would really make it easier to lynch a wolf.

The downsides are that

1) I might not be around towards the end of the voting some nights which means someone may slip through.

2) If I get killed my research dies with me.

Any other thoughts.

I've found an innocent person again but I'm reluctant to name them until we decide what to do.

My thoughts exactly :)
I figure the chances of your research dieing with you are comparitively low since any protectors gotta be looking out for you by now.

Surely in your death message you're allowed to leave some sort of clues to your results for anyone left alive?
While I obviously don't want you dead, if something unfortunate does happen there is some way to pass on some of what you've learnt.

I think that's against the rules, one of the advantages to killing off an information bearer.

I don't think it'll matter though. I figure our doc prots ross for the rest of the game, fuck coin tosses, they didn't do any good last night :( at some point (I estimate 2 turns) he'll hit a tipping point where he knows >50% of the town are innocent and reveals all. At that point so long as we still outnumber the wolves we can't lose. Lets say it's 2 turns, that's 4 kills, means 6/13 remain. If there are 3 wolves we get that even if we lynch wrong both times, if there are 4...we need to hit a wolf today or tomorrow.

Still, we're getting more and more information. I think we're close.

what about a contingency - if the doc dies by random death or by our error, what do we do then - if ross is likely the next target. Does he spill what he knows?

I'd say give it a (real life) day.
Means we can get reactions from everyone on how the doc got killed before the extra info is out there.

we're discussing the contingency plan, should the doctor die. we're discussing it now while we're still alive.

its best to assume that we dont have one. its a nice bonus if we do...
And we're not screwed - it just means our timeline for finding the wolves is moved forward. thats why we're planning now...

Its possible. I'm trying not to always go for the most obvious person but if the just protecting wolves and not trying to get me to hang an innocent then that sill might not help me avoid cons.
