[Noticing that the boy has disappeared during the last few days, Edward finds it not surprising to hear this message via journal. With a deep sigh, Edward tries to compose himself before he let's Kain have a piece of his mind. Ever since the poor boy arrived here, the dragoon has acted anything but kind towards the lad. Ceodore felt unwelcome within this home despite all of them being merely past versions of the people knows. Thinking that this matter of Kain has gone too far, Edward wished he could have some stern words with Kain regarding his demeanor, but he knows the dragoon wouldn't listen to him.
Kain listens to no one, not even Rydia herself.
Wandering towards the waterside in search for the youth, the Damcyan Prince was surprised to see a tent nearby. Frowning at the sight before him, Edward approached with a smile he had to offer towards the unfortunate boy.]
[Edward nearly smirked at the boy since it seems he has caught him in the middle of his unannounced exile. Giving the camp site a slight inspection, the bard smiled kindly towards Ceodore.]
[Letting out a thoughtful hum, Edward strolled towards the river bank nearby. Wondering if he should bust the kid now on his little fib, the bard decided to hold his silence for now regarding that matter.]
If so, then I guess you wouldn't mind having some company for the day.
[Phew! Not busted. Although in all honesty, Ceodore's quite happy to spend time in Edward's company. It's still odd for him to see the man so much younger, yet still the same. As with Rydia, he's known this man all his life and even considers him something of a friend, well his father's friend, more like an uncle of sorts.]
The future you say? [Edward almost forgotten that the boy hails from another time.] Do not worry, I doubt anything you have to share would shock me much.
The past always announces the future's coming through the deeds we do within the present.
[He smiled at Ceodore.]
Fear nothing, simply speak as freely as you wish within my presence. I shan't fault you for it.
[Wondering what sort of question that was, Edward's found himself struggling with his words.]
I-I am uncertain, but I would doubt it! Cecil isn't the kind of man to allow himself to falter even if his life is in danger by friend and foe alike. If Kain was to draw his spear at Cecil, he would be facing certain demise, wouldn't he?
[Ceodore nods. There's more going on than what he's letting on, but the bard does sound reasoning. His father's never failed in a fight, at least not to his knowledge.
But still...]
When I came here, we were leaving Damcyan. Kain had stolen the Fire Crystal... and Mother. He told you he was going to kill Father in front of her. I want to believe he's not like that, but everything I've seen of him...
I wonder if his involvement with Rydia might change that, if it will change how things are at home.
[Frowning deeply as the boy spoke, Edward finally realized why Ceodore seemed so hesitant around Kain. Remembering the dream the boy had of a ruined Damcyan, Ceodore's tale finally made sense to him. The madness within Kain finally engulfed the man, and now the same horrors that fought against before were happening again.]
I see. [Now he truly understood why Kain dislike Ceodore so much, the boy was not only a representation of his unrequited love to Rosa, but proof that the dragoon would lose himself in the end.]
Perhaps, no one can be sure what sort of future awaits for Kain now considering his ties to Rydia. I can only hope that the grim future you speak of shan't happen at all.
The Fire Crystal was stolen once before by a man named Golbez, if stolen again, the world will be plunged into darkness once more.
Kain listens to no one, not even Rydia herself.

So this is where you've been hiding?

[Yipes! He wasn't counting on someone finding him.]
I thought it'd be good to get out for a while.

Oh? Is that all?

[Really, Ceodore can't lie to save his life. Mercifully, his life isn't hanging in the balance at the moment.]

Edward, can I ask you something?

Yes, what is it?

[Sigh.]
I've known you my whole life, just like Rydia. I... I don't want to tell you things you don't want to hear. I-if you don't want.

If you know me so well, then you should know you can speak freely around me regardless the topic.

[That emphasis on the word 'really' implies that yes, you do indeed hint something to that nature eventually.]

They... All the Crystals have been taken. By the Red Wings.
[He looks at Edward, expecting the man to understand the implication there, that somehow Cecil is behind the thefts.]
