[Ceodore's settled into something of a daily routine, even though it surprises him how quickly it seems to have happened. Most of it involves avoiding the house as much as humanly possible. The only deviations to the pattern occur when he's dreaming naughty stuff about Rydia avoiding being skewered by Kain destroying appliances something more ( Read more... )

[Terra pops into view somewhere along the barrier. Even though Kurtis hasn't asked about her efforts in a while, her own concerns provoke her into inspecting it anyway. She doesn't sense anything unusual about it and so is about to teleport away when she hears someone persistent nearby.

Curious, she follows it, and....]

...Ceodore?

Huh?

[Ceodore pauses, certain he heard his name. He stops the barrier bashing to turn, and smiles when he sees the source of the voice.]

Hey, Terra.

[She smiles, catching up to him.]

Hello.

[The smile fades as curiosity and concern take over.]

You've been attacking the barrier?

Looking for a way out. There has to be a way.

[Terra pauses for a moment, uncertain of what to say.]

I'd like to think there is...and that we just haven't found it, yet.

We could try together, if you want.

[He nods crisply.]

Sure. The more that try, the better the chance of succeeding.

[Terra's not sure that there's much chance at all, but...it's something to do, and if Ceodore's going to wear himself out, she might as well be there in case he needs help.

She presses her hand against the barrier, in various spots.]

I've been teleporting around to different spots near the barrier, trying to see if any could be weak points. There's no difference that I can tell, but that's no reason to stop looking, right?

Right.

[He follows her example, touching the barrier, feeling for a weak spot. Nada. Not even where he'd just been hacking away.]

It's frustrating.

It is, isn't it.

[Terra nods sympathetically.]

There's this spell I know, called Libra. It gives you information on what you're fighting, like weaknesses. I wished it worked on this, too.

[And given her tone, she's likely tried.]

It didn't work?

[He's been contemplating trying it himself. Well nevermind that, he needs to see for himself. One quick Libra cast coming up. Only Terra is right. No use at all.

Punching the barrier in frustration now.]

[Terra watches him before tapping at the barrier again. She knows all too well that her spells won't work, though maybe Ceodore needs a demonstration of that. She backs up and casts Reflect on them both, just in case, then Holy.

...and, nothing. No hint of the spell having been cast.]

Nothing seems to work. But...don't give up hope. I heard that it's cracked before. I don't know how, but if we count find out how that happened and make it happen again...then there's a chance.

If it's cracked once, it can happen again. [He runs a hand thoughtfully over the surface, looking for some clue, then rakes it through his hair.] If it can be built, it can be demolished. Maybe a rune or a chant or... a combination.

I tried Dispel, but...well, it's still here. But maybe if there was a way to enhance it, somehow....

[Terra shrugs, peering at it thoughtfully.]

[He deliberates on that for a moment.]

Could you cast Dispel on my sword?

Reply

[Terra stares at the sword.]

I could try, but I'm not sure if casting Dispel would just negate whatever magic is on your sword or...something else.

[There's nothing to lose, that she can see, so...casting Dispel.]

[His thought was to see if he could propel the spell into the barrier, or at least enhance it somehow, by striking the wall at the same time. He gives it a particularly hard slash in an attempt to expedite the effort, and is only staggered back two steps from the sheer force of his own exertion.

He frowns at the weapon, then the barrier.]

No good.
