It was nice to have siblings. I... I'd always wanted some. Uh, thanks.

[That's all that Ceodore can bring himself to say about the experiment. He's oddly sad that the experiment wasn't real. Not that he doesn't love his parents, but there's so much expectation that comes with it. Having a normal family, brothers and a sister? That was nice. Really ( Read more... )

I feel the same. I always wanted a large family. I hope to have one some day.

Huh. I never thought of it like that. I guess I could have one eventually.

[Come to think of it, his father hadn't had one at all growing up.]

Did you like your family?

I love them very much. Sometimes I couldn't see them often, but that doesn't change loving each other.

Yeah.

What about the new family?

They're still very important to me. Somehow I can't just stop seeing it that way.

I feel the same, but guilty. Like it's being ungrateful to my parents...

I don't think you're ungrateful. What I didn't know was the Malnosso's fault. And I certainly love Mama. So, I don't think I'm ungrateful.

[He lapses silent while he thinks on that. He likes it a lot, but then wonders if it's not just absolving himself of responsibility.]

I liked having a normal family though. I... still do.

I always wanted that, too. [Some of the quiet feeling of her distant smile creeps into her voice.] Mama and Papa, and brothers and sisters.

It was just me, and Mama. My parents were divorced, and Papa went away. I never had brothers or sisters.

[Blink. People don't get divorced where he's from. It's a really foreign concept to him.]

Divorced?

He just left?

[So confused.]

Oh.

[Sometimes Ceodore wishes he could just up and go himself. It sounds nice.]

My parents are... famous. Everyone knows them and looks up to them. So they expect me to be like them. I don't have any brothers or sisters either, so it all falls on me to live up to them.

My mother is well-known as a doctor, and Papa's painting is well-known, so, sometimes there are people hoping for introductions to them.

Man, that's rough.

[Boy can he empathize with the second one. He's more than fed up of having his own skills attributed to his family.]

Does it bother you?
