I would totally pick up that book thanks to that cover too. D: It's so freaking pretty.

*__* Jody Leeeee art. It makes me feel shallow, but man she does beautifully detailed cover art! I wish I could say the story stood up to that cover, but I just never did manage to successfully get into it! Might give it another shot if I ever found another copy though...

*PROCRASTINATION WUT?*

Eh, sometimes you just have to be shallow about picking up a book actually based on the cover. The old adage of judging them by their covers might be a good metaphor but working in a bookstore for 6 years has taught me anything, you need an interesting cover or people WON'T look at it.

I was the same with the Herbie Brennan books with Fairie Wars - the cover was pretty. I just lucked out that the book was fucking amazing.

*LOL I KNOW RIGHT*

This is funny because I was at a panel discussing the future of publication last weekend and the publishers were saying that we're at the point in publishing where you HAVE to have good cover art, it's not optional anymore. I found that pretty interesting. >.>

Did I read those? I think I read those, MAN, TOO DAMN MANY BOOKS THAT HAVE FAERIES IN THEM. XD

*STILL PROCRASTINATING*

That is rather interesting, actually... At least they know that you have to have something interesting to look at or else people aren't going to pick the books up. Especially with how people are getting published nowadays...

I lent you the first one for sure so I know you read the first! Which now I have no idea where it is in my room now because I totally need to reread it since there's like...a third and fourth and I haven't read them yet because I can't remember what the hell is going on. 1st: Faerie Wars, 2nd: Purple Emperor, 3rd: Ruler of the Realm, 4th: Faerie Lord and I think that's it... at least so far. I KNOW I'VE GONE SDFKJSDJKLSDFJKLSDFJ IN THE BOOKSTORE WHEN I FOUND FAERIE LORD. D8 FFFFF

*I AT LEAST HAVE THE DOCUMENT OPEN???*

It was a really interesting panel. They were talking specifically about steampunk and genres, but I learned a lot of good information in general. The conversation also digressed into the future of publishing, as we have electronic books now and how that will change things.

OKAY, THOSE! I read the first and second then. Or maybe just the first. ; I should pick up more of that series, it was pretty interesting. MUST. READ. MORE!

*I HAVE...UH... NOT QUITE 2k OF MY NEEDED 5k?*

Man, the e-book business is totally booming too - because really, you cut out the expense of getting it "published" per se, when digital stuff is mainly the next wave that publishers have to consider...

Yes those! I know you've at least got the first... I might have sent you the second but I honestly can't remember... I need to reread them since they were just kind of fun bits. Hell I need to READ MORE. |D Though I might actually DO SO now that I'm not working with books all day.

*WELL....THAT'S BETTER THAN ME...I HAVE LIKE A COUPLE HUNDRED OUT OF THE 5K I SHOULD BE DOING?*

Yeah, but even though the market is steadily going towards e-books, we're not going to see the END of physical books. They're just becoming more and more a luxury item instead of a necessity. Interesting trend. When every book was copied by hand, books were a luxury item. Then you have the advent of the printing press and books stopped being a luxury item. Then we have e-books and physical books will slide back into luxury items...

Yeah, I should track down more of those... Though probably I should read the many books I've collected first. ^^; I can see it. Certainly can see how you don't want to stare at a book when you get home when you spend all day at work staring at books. XD;

*HEY THAT'S OKAY, MAN. YOU JUST DO THAT ANOTHER FIFTY TIMES AND YOU'RE GOLDEN!*

Oh, I totally agree. E-books are a new addition to the market, but the hard copies are still going to be on demand. Some people just like having a copy to hold, smell, mark up as need be. I know I like having something in my hands that I don't have to recharge if I've been reading a lot (though I'm half tempted to get an e-reader too... but then again, that's just me going EEEEEEEEEEE TECHNOLOGY!!!!!!!!!!!!) because I'm like that.

Oh god same, you should see my room... when you get a really good discount on everything like I did, most of the paycheck went to getting books...that I still haven't read. Though I have two in process... and I finished one or two recently. Which is good for me. |D;;;;;

*I'M NOT TOTALLY WORRYING ABOUT IT SINCE I'M TRYING TO KEEP CARRIE MOTIVATED TO FINISH THIS YEAR SO WE'VE BEEN WORD WARRING LOTS AND A LOT OF MY OUTPUT IS FROM THAT. Though I did write 7k yesterday and I'm still poking it here and there...so 8Db!!!!*

XD!! I don't terribly have an urge for an e-reader... but I don't jump that hard at technology. I mean I JUST got a laptop and it really exists to be a trumped up type-writer. XD; And I like real books. I REALLY LIKE owning books. This is why I don't hit libraries, I hit bookstores. I'm terrible for it actually. >.>;

The worst is the borrowed books I have. Must read those so I can send them to their proper home. >.>; I'm not really reading anything right now, that's the worst part. XD; BUT I HAVE NANO SO UH YEAH. HI NANO.

*THE WE GO THEN! I'm trying to get ahead because work kills my motivation to write, so I'd rather have less than the required word count to finish up.*

Yeah, I enjoy having my books too - it's just the OOH SHINY syndrome, I find... which is why I don't HAVE ONE but heeheehee! I enjoy owning books too, which is why the library card is pretty much null and void...

Ohgod I know, I try not to borrow anymore because I'm so horrible at reading them in a timely manner... which is why I usually just get suggestions from people and then go out and buy them... YEAH HI NANO I SHOULD BE WORKING ON YOU...even though it's all fanfic. Again. SIGH.

Yeah, I work on Tues so I'm not sure how productive I'll be on the last day so I'm trying to get a lot done today and tomorrow myself...

Very smart. XD I'll probably stick to real books long past the point where I SHOULD have an e-reader. >.>; They're still too new at this point for me, though. I'll wait until some of these rough waters settle out a little better.

I still read fairly regularly but I'm collecting a stack that needs to go back to Hollie's mom. >.>; I send a few back with Hollie in appeasement, but damn, they come right back just as quick. MUST READ MOOOOORE. 8| HEY, HEY, I REMEMBER SOME SNIPPETS OF SHIRA AND KAI IN THAT NANO. THEY'RE IN THERE, YOU CAN DO IT DAMNIT!

Yeah, last minute spree writing is fun... but more fun when you've got a brain for it and not just PURE TERROR AT THE THOUGHT OF FAILURE TO MOTIVATE YOU.

Yeah, I know what you mean there. There's just too much out there at the moment... hee!

Oh one of those I have your mum's books moments. XD It's always fun to do that with people though... I do need to read more myself too. I did want to start that blog of reviewing shit and...well I need to actually READ SOMETHING to review and all that bull. AND LIKE A PAGE. THAT'S IT. D) HURRRRRRRRRRR!!!!

This is true. >.>;;; DO NOT WANT TO FAIL. MUST WRITE MORE. WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!! *is poking it*

Yeah, like e-books? Haven't figured out a standard pricing like the rest of the industry yet. They're still wriggling out those details, so until they do... *shrugs* Gonna wait. XD

Hollie's mom has A LOT OF BOOKS, okay? >.>; Her shelves are well-endowed. Yeah, I need to get back in the habit of posting SOMETHING... and not just bitching about how my novel is going (because the answer is always poorly). WELL THEN DO ANOTHER PAGE BEFORE YOU GO TO BED. THEN YOU HAVE TWO PAGES. 83

PRODPRODPRODPROD--SHINIES! *distracted* <--Meg today.

From a bookseller point of view and having to talk about this a lot - the pricing is usually dependent on what's going on, how new the book is, etc. They're usually around 30-40% off a retail price...usually. It's still fluctuating though. XDb But I would wait too.

OH SO SHE'S LIKE US. GOOD TO KNOW. Yeah, I felt pretty good actually posting something I was working on... so that's always something I find. AND I WOULD, IF I KNEW WHAT TO DO WITH THEM |D HURR. Fuckers. orz

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Sounds about right.

*Nods* It's settling down... but not settled yet. I'ma waitin' that's all I know. XD

PRETTY MUCH. MMMMMM BOOKS! *nods* Yeah, silly posting... *really terrible at it lately.* DOM COMES TO COLLECT KAI'S SOUL? OR AT LEAST TAKE HER OUT TO DINNER AND SHIRA MISINTERPRETS?

Shinies are many... but. Hm. Pie. >.>
