BATTLE OF THE ANTS!
DAY ????: THE LONG SLOW WAR
News on the ant front is that we actually seem to be winning. It's a rather long, battle though, as we spot them wandering through every now and then. But on a whole, I think we're winning. I only see the random confused wanderer on my desk, they're staying out of the cupboards, and slowly, I think they're learning to fuck off.
Still, we have to keep being good because one mess up will have the little bastards swarming in here again. 8|
BUT WE NOW HAVE A VACUUM. VICTORY WILL SOON BE OURS! EVENTUALLY.
This weekend has involved a rather lot of money spending, but with hopefully good results.
You see, Hollie and I have started our quest to Do Crafty Things and Be More Steampunk. So far this has mostly involved lots of old tea canisters, paper mache, and one praying mantis.
TO FURTHER THIS, we went out shopping yesterday and hit up an art supply store to see what we could find. (I'd have preferred a craft supply store, but those are actually harder to find in Portland.)
We picked up:
-Acrylic paint set of the major colors (Including about three shades of brown!)
-Paintbrushes (a must when painting)
-A bottle of orange glittery pearlescent paint
-Sand paper
-Popsicle sticks
This, combined with the supplies I already have, actually will make a VERY versatile. I can now fake copper VERY WELL and I have an older bottle of silvery paint so I've got a warm and cold metal toner for painting.
We also went to the Pirate Store in the mall where the sales assistant with Very Nice Cleavage plied her trades and got Hollie into a pair of very nice boots. I am full approval of this. And was weak and bought myself a small metal lock. SHUT UP, IT'S PRETTY.
TODAY we went down to Goodwill to raid there for more supplies.
The Haul:
-A shirt for work (it is brown. I like brown)
-A VERY PRETTY semi-Asian jacket (possibly for costuming, partly just for me)
-2 alarm clocks to be taken apart for gears
-Several other clocks also to be taken apart
-A ski set with clock, barometer, and compass. Bought for the barometer, clock, and compass, not the ski
-A collection of HG Wells for Hollie
-Jonathan Strange and & Mr. Norrell for me because I've always been curious if I'll like that book and it was four bucks
-Some shirts for Hollie (her bag isn't beside me, I don't know her stash)
-A LANTERN 8D!!!!
THINGS WILL BE TAKEN APART TONIGHT. IT WILL BE GOOD.
STEAM PUNKING FUCK YEAH.
