In Which A Lot Happens All At Once

Oi, I owe a big ass update on...well...

Everything.

SteamCon:
Doing bullet points for I am lazy. Let's see, to start things off... http://sundancerstudio.zenfolio.com/steamcon09 PICS! Taken by the lovely Sonya.

-GINA AND SONYA! So damn good to see them again that they'll get their own bullet point. AND THEY'LL LIKE IT. 8|
-Was a crazy First Mate for a steampunk larp. I generally think I sucked like hell at the character, but it was fun nonetheless.
-Met some fucking awesome people! INCLUDING A STEAMPUNK GNOME. AND A CRAZY TEXAN. IT WAS GOOD. And some of them actually live in Portland and I should endeavor to find them again!
-CLEAVAGE. OH GOD THE CLEAVAGE.
-I mean wut? Disregard that bullet point. But seriously, nothing like corsetry to bring out the boobs!
-Including my own actually. Yeah, I bought a corset. It is gorgeous and expensive and suede and delightful. The salesman was slick, though. He had that thing on me and sold in like, five minutes. ._.;
-Various Folgio panels! I went to like... Three. >.>; Well, two panels and a radio show. And squeed more than was appropriate.
-Abney Park is epic on stage. They're hilarious, vibrant, and just generally put on an awesome, awesome show. I am definitely a fan of them and wish to see them on stage again.
-Oh my god, I'm blanking, there was so much god damn epic...
-Oh yeah! Steampunk itself makes me squee as a genre because it really does span age, genre, and hobby barriers. You get everything from the men in their fifties and sixties who like the shiny engines to squeeing fifteen year old girls there to learn about corsetry. After the concert, we were flopped in the couch in the bathroom and started a chat with a woman who must have been in her forties about all the times she'd punched people out at concerts. IT WAS AWESOME. X3
-As I said, too much epic, so, uh. Yeah. THINGS.

Job:
Has mostly been dull so far. But well paying dull. And the people are good. I've been freaking out at it on and off though. My supervisor is going on maternity leave VERY SOON and I was worried I wasn't going to be well enough trained to cover her case work.

But they weren't actually planning on having me before she went for maternity leave, it appears, so the work load has already been distributed to the rest of the group. Now it's more of a case of shifting some of that workload back to me.

Also freaking out about not doing a good enough job... But... Well... I'm scanning in papers mostly. I'm not really sure I can do that better than I already am.

Leaves to be seen, I suppose. Everything will be fine, I'm sure, but I'm prone to worrying sometimes.

Though they are taking me to a conference in Maryland next month! On financial and tax stuff for non-profits. Which I'm sure will be dull as hell for me, BUT COME ON. TRIP TO MARYLAND!

Apartment and General Life:
I adore the fall. I hate colds. I may hate apartment hunting more.

Okay, apartment hunting can be fun, but it's been a long time since I've done it. And to make matters worse, I'll be hunting and or moving in November, which has dampened my enthusiasm. Because November is naturally a busy month, but add into it... 1) Nano, 2) Apartment Hunting, 3) New Job with Current Supervisor Going on Maternity Leave...

I really don't have the drive for apartment hunting right now. On the other hand, I do want my own place. I am very, VERY appreciative of having a place to stay, but still would like my own place.

Currently mostly looking downtown as the apartments in the area I work don't look too great. Great area for neat old houses. Not so much for apartment buildings. Maybe I'm wrong and just not looking right... But I do kinda like the idea of living downtown.

Looked at one place today. Area was awesome, the land lady looked pretty awesome, the complex was neat... But the apartment itself is TINY. And worse, it's NARROW. Small I can live with, but narrow I don't like so much. If I don't find anything by the time it becomes available (mid-Nov) I may take it anyway. But we'll see, I'm going to look at some other places too.

NANO:
OH GOD I AM NOT READY.

I AM SO NOT READY.

Actually, getting ready needs to happen tonight. I need to get my files reorganized for this year. Third year of Yu and Shu's story, but I failed at my goal, so this is why I get. 8| I WILL DO IT AND I WILL LIKE IT.

Anyway, the journal will probably be silent. I'm not bothering with posting every day this year, as it was mostly pointless.

On the other hand... I will be spamming the fuck out of my Twitter. http://twitter.com/LunarFlight Those of you on my friends list are warned. The rest of you can watch or not, but that'll be where most of my inane thoughts'll gather.

And it will be epic.

OH AND IF ANY OF YOU ARE DOING NANO AND NOT ON MY NANO LIST, GET YOUR ASSES ON THERE. 8|
