You've all already heard about Aaron Hall. But have you seen the headline news today: "Nicole Kidman joins the ranks of actresses over forty." Important news when people are being brutally murdered

Whoops. I, of all people, should stop assuming others keep up with the news better than I do.
Matthew Shepard happened a few years ago. He was a gay college student that allegedly hit on a couple of guys in a bar. Rather than tell him, no thanks, they indicated they were interested and invited him out. He got in the truck and they drove him out to a field where they beat him in a "homophobic rage" so uncontrollable that they were able to remain rational until away from prying eyes. Afterward, they tied him to a fence post and left him to die of exposure. He died in a hospital of severe brain damage. Their girlfriends testified that they had planned beforehand to rob a gay man. They had also planned to burglarize his home. They are both serving two consecutive life sentences. One testified against the other to avoid the death penalty. The other got a deal to avoid the death penalty thanks to Shepard's parents who said he was against the death penalty. The case garnered international attention and hatemongers showed up at Matthew Shepard's funeral to shout at his friends and family that he deserved to die and was going to hell. People who did not believe this nonsense attempted to create a human wall between his loved ones and those sickos. Also, before he died, candlelight vigils were held round the world for him.
This is one of the cases where my faith in humanity is actually restored, though it's still hard.
