Weekend

I was invited out to a party in the country on Saturday afternoon. I was running late so had to rush out my flat. However I remembered I wanted to give a particular Interpol CD to a friend and went to the kitchen to see if it was sitting on the pile on top of the hi-fi, but had no luck there. So off I went. Five minutes after leaving I got a message from my flatmate Gav.

"You taking the piss? :-P!" he wrote.

I sent him back a "?" thinking he was referring to a recent tag I'd made on facebook of him ('work wear direct' shop).

He replied with "You put industrial music on really loud in the kitchen then left!".

O_o

I was puzzled as I didn't go anywhere near the On/Off button, but here was Gav thinking I deliberately put on loud music and ran out the door. I should also point out that this was while he was still in his room with his girlfriend. Oops.

After that we figured out that I'd managed to touch one of the CD change buttons at the top of the hi-fi by accident, and you don't need to press the On/Off button for it to start up. The CD just happened to be an industrial noise CD. Synapscape. The first track takes a minute or so to really kick off, which is why I wasn't aware it had started. It was turned up so loud that his girlfriend thought it was a train or something.

Now I wouldn't do such a thing if I was annoyed with someone about something, I'd tell them directly rather than play those sorts of games. Nevertheless I found that I was chuckling to myself for the rest of the day to think about it.

As for the party, it was in a country cottage around the Temple area near Gorebridge. This was "Ferdie's" party. Ferdie is a large friendly dog. He has lots of doggie friends. Some humans were also invited, including myself. The weather stayed fine and lots of little nibbles were served. Then on the drive back to Edinburgh it poured down.

I went out to the Hoose on Saturday evening for a bite to eat before going to the Banshee Labyrinth for Dr Mobius. I really wanted Nachos. Oh did I have Nachos! Then to Dr Mobius which turned out to be quite busy despite the rain. Fab night. I got a little totoro present from Nik - thanks!

I had Little D for the day on Sunday. We went to Ephemeris for lunch, and got the all-day veggie breakfast, then went onto the fun fair where Little D won a Scooby Doo inflatable hammer, and then to the meadows fair where we ate strawberries and watched some of Kiki's Delivery Service in the cinema tent.

Fab weekend.
