[After a long, arduous day spent training in the forest, the stalwart Paladin returns home to his loving-and-yet-makeshift family, greeting them cordially before settling down with his journal the way some patriarchs reach for the daily newspaper. Frowning, he jots out a short note.]

[And snow-soaked Rydia returns home, dumping her cloak, scarf and boots in a wet pile in the corner. She resurfaces minutes later, rubbing her hair dry with a towel. Upon noting that frown, she angles over to him and raises an eyebrow.]

What's wrong?

AHAHAHA and yet it is STILL NOT ENOUGH.

[The frown reverses itself as Rydia speaks to him, though it peaks at a forced smile.] Nothing that ought concern you.

GET HER A DRAGON NEXT, MAYBE THAT WILL MAKE HER HAPPY.

[Rydia notices that forced smile and that eyebrow stays raised. She remembers the times Cecil tried to shield her from stuff, so she can be forgiven for assuming it's happening again.]

...did someone die?

ABSOLUTELY NOT. They bite.

One of the other inhabitants, from the sound of it. [A misleading answer is better than no answer at all, considering how he'd like to avoid getting another "Kefka is a bad man" speech, thanks.]

[She stares, then moves to read over Cecil's shoulder, so he better be quick!]

Will she feed it and take it for walks?

Of course! *BIG EYES* *which means Cecil will be doing it*

It's marked several days ago. Did you not hear it as it happened?

No, I didn't. Believe it or not, I have other things to do than listen to the journals all day.

[His face conveys clearly that he doesn't appreciate her tone, and he simply returns to his journal, flipping to catch up with the next page.]

[Have a sigh. She's NOT going to apologize for that tone when he could have just TOLD her what happened instead of acting all evasive.]

Fine, I won't look at your journal anymore.

[lunarborn]

[He glances up to her warmly] I would appreciate that.

[Lucky for him that her moods didn't last, either.]

...what did happen, though? I try to keep up to date, but there's so many entries that I don't always catch them all. If there's someone else we have to worry about, I'd like to know.

There's a creature that sounds as though it was murdered, though I'm not very sure of the details. Still, it's a shame that anyone feels the need to kill in a place like this where we ought to be banding together.
