[Mostly action, some voice]

[The routine was becoming normal: fall asleep in a huge bed next to his gorgeous wife, wake up, tend to the kingdom that was so new it still didn't feel like his. Except this morning, he found himself awaking in a strange land, wearing strange clothes, and lacking his usual means of defense. Also, lacking his wife.]

Where..?

[Kain is managing to convey both happiness (for his friend's return) and disappointment (for his unrequited love interest's husband's return) ALL AT ONCE.]

Cecil. You're back.

So I continue to be told, in a variety of voices. I don't suppose there's a chance we could elaborate a bit more upon why I'm expected here?

You were already here months before I arrived, yet you recently had disappeared.

But that's impossible. A place like this, having wings... It's the kind of thing one doesn't readily forget.

Yet it appears you have. Perhaps it's the fault of the Malnosso.

From your tone, I assume this Malnosso is not to be trusted, then. Fair enough. I don't suppose using these wings to fly back to Baron is very plausible either. Are there options?

The Malnosso are responsible for us being here, as well as the wings. A barrier surrounds this land, preventing escape... which is also their doing.

So our goal here would be to break past this barrier and defeat these Malnosso? It sounds like you and I may as well get accustomed to this sort of task.

Breaking through that barrier will be a formidable task, but I doubt the Malnosso themselves will be difficult to defeat. They always remain behind it, like cowards.

You and I have accomplished many formidable tasks in our lifetimes. It still sounds like something we can do.

We must attempt. Even if little progress has been made so far, despite all the warriors we have in our midst...

Even if we fail trying, the greater failure is staying put.

It's good to hear from you again, Kain.

True enough.

Likewise. It's been since the... Well, a matter of weeks, at most.

Forgive me if this is something I ought to know by now, but do tell me of your journey up Mt. Ordeals. I hope you've returned with all limbs intact.

It... went as expected, until I ended up here.

And as I'd imagine you would expect, you'd encountered the worst-case scenario? Whatever you were made to endure, I have faith you would have overcome it. And still will, once we return to our world.
