I haven't posted in a very long time. Mostly because life just continues apace so I don't really feel like there's all that much to blog about. Life has been good. Still have my steady job, still having a wonderful time now that my mom is married, still hang out with the same people, dated a bit, work out regularly, eat healthy, etc. I've been catching up on a lot of reading and have been putting my library card to really good use lol. Also my Netflix account.
However, today I weighed myself for the first time in almost a year (I think). Now, take into account I'm 5'6", about a year ago I was maybe 141 lbs. In high school, when I was on the swim team and 5'4", I was 132 lbs at my most in shape. I am currently 124.4 lbs!! I am lighter than when I was in high school and on the swim team AND I'm taller by two inches. I'm astonished truthfully. I haven't been attempting to lose anymore weight really just get in shape. I've been running and doing pilates/body toning/yoga and assumed that my muscle mass would make me weigh a bit more than someone who was just "thin." I mean, I noticed that most of clothes need to be taken in by this point but I haven't been starving myself or any other ridiculous things society leads you to believe you have to do to lose weight. I've just gotten very healthy in how I eat and I like to work out regularly now (at least 4/5 days a week). This is especially astonishing to me since two and a half years ago I weighed in, at my heaviest ever, at around 163 lbs. I have lost about 40 lbs in two and a half years just through being healthier. o.0 For reals.
I've also taken to enjoying Oolong tea every day. It is a wonderful and relaxing way to start the day (plus) yummy. I heard about how Oolong tea is very good for maintaining your metabolic and digestive system and I have been finding that to be true. Combined with my usual fruit protein smoothie (frozen mango, pineapple, strawberries, blueberries, a fresh whole banana, vanilla flavored soy protein powder, and flax seed oil) my system has been running along in a way that makes me feel the healthiest I've been in a long time. I cut down drastically on my sodium intake and have taken to really watching that. I was raised in a household that uses way too much salt on everything so relearning how I think about that was at first a bit hard. But I find I enjoy the subtleties of flavor in food much more so now so I can't find it a bad thing in any way. I still love my carbs but I get bread that has no salt added, etc. and I only use ingredients that I will really taste in the finished product. For example I've been really enjoying sun-dried tomatoes with eggs (if I do sunnyside-up eggs I lay them over a half cup of brown rice and goat cheese, scrambled I put them in a whole wheat wrap with some sharp cheddar). So ridiculously yummy plus healthy.
and now, speaking of food, I am getting rather hungry lol. I just had to post this somewhere. I'm in a good type of shock since it was a good outcome I wasn't even really trying for. ^_^
I hope everything is going as well, or better, for everyone else too!
