i need to update more, maybe then these won't be so long...

so things have been going very well for me lately.

I got a semi-promotion at work while my boss is on leave and I am very much liking the pay raise (which means I can buy my MacBook that much sooner). also still working out regularly and whatnot.

I signed myself up to start taking French this spring. I drag my heels when it comes to memorizing by wrote for languages but I have no excuse this time since I have no other homework. My high school is also offering art classes for all us alumni and I am definitely signing up for the painting class with my old teacher Satish who is awesome since it will most likely be a blast. gaming proceeds apace and I didn't realize how much I missed it (ok, maybe I did but it sounds better, or less geeky, if I say that :-P).

I'm getting involved with some of my sorority alumni events. I went to one book club they hosted thusfar and that was actually quite a lot of fun. but then they spoke my lingo when they baited the trap with "book club" ^_~. We were supposed to read "Forever" by Pete Hamill. it's a really interesting concept but I barely made a dent in it because I have so many other books on my platter that came before it. There were the first three of the Dresden Files, The Coyote Road, and I'm still in the middle of The Enchantress of Florence. plus I probably have some more wandering around and I've been meaning to re-read a lot of my Joseph Campbell books on the progression of myth and the journey of the hero (also my Egyptian mythology) and other such "personal" research I guess.

I went to a sorta middle school reunion on Tuesday and had a really really good time. I forgot I was actually popular in middle school, go figure lol. so people were excited to see me and one girl said "if we were going to have a 10 year reunion I assumed you would be the person to throw it." oh! and yet...I didn't. sorry? so I said I'd help make up an actual reunion for everyone. and now I'm getting invited to a ton of things by them because "I'm sweet and cool and whatnot" ::falls over laughing:: ok, what, I'm allowed to be startled and amused by that turn of events.

Bill, i.e. my step-father-to-be, has been staying with us since December 20. He's really nice and very quiet (therefore a nice counter to my mother). He adored Erin when she was here for New Year's (when we had SOOO much fun!) and said she was welcome to North Carolina too and he asked me a couple weeks later if she knew he wasn't just saying that. like i said, he's really nice. ^_^ He also likes to clean..a lot. it's really funny. he insists on cleaning the dishes and is constantly doing the laundry which is a bit like "huh?" in our house lol (not saying we're dirty just that we drag our heels a bit about it more). and he loves to pick up wines to go with dinner (or asti spumante/nando which are yummy). It's been fun having him here actually though at the moment he has a really bad flu.

also it seems I'm going to Nag's Head in July with the entire Dalton clan and ma. It seems it's a tradition to rent out a house for a week on the beach and just chill. I think I can deal with that ^_~ I'll probably have to wear sunscreen like crazy, though by this point I think I'm so pale I'm just reflective :-P but, you know, beach time, pool time, chill time with my adorable nieces and nephew and my cool step-siblings. when did this start being my life? ::scratches head::

been catching up with quite a few people lately which is rather nice. so either I suddenly became the person to catch up with or i'm not hibernating as much or some other weird reason like planetary alignment?

hmm, also I have a question to end this long post for all of you. You guys probably remember when I discovered Muscato d'Asti and realized that, wait, I actually like wine, just dessert wine. well now I want to educate myself on lovely sweet wines but find that almost no stores actually keep any in stock. Now I realize that there are a ton of stores online that sell wines, etc., but I have no idea which stores are good or even which companies, varieties, etc. It's like being thrown into the deep end of the dessert wine pool online and a barely leaky drought in person. anybody want to help a girl out and point me in the right direction? give me some hints (or whack me upside the head with really big suggestions, I won't mind..much). ^_^
