Can I be random Slytherin third-year #44?

So. Post-meltdown. More drained than I've ever been post-meltdown, but that's what happens when I decide crying is a luxury I can't afford.

I believe that all the job apps I sent out have been declined after this period of silence, not to mention the couple of very polite dismissals I received. That's all and well, since I had the backup plan of Nova and the like. Except Nova's labor relations suck balls in a very illegal way. But after reading both good and bad testimonials on the ESL boards about the whole teaching conversational English thing, I'm completely rethinking Japanese eikaiwa. I will probably still apply to Aeon, but will more likely apply to a competitor ECC (and pray they're in a hiring mood).

Frankly, I'm not certain I'm cut out to be an automaton English conversation teacher/entertainer, and the labor law headaches have put me off eikaiwa in general. I'm looking at several ALT positions, though, since in general they're less shady than the eikaiwa schools. Though of course, there's bad news there --dispatch agencies pretty much break the law left and right because their foreign ALTs don't know labor laws any better.

I'm learning a lot, needless to say.

Before using Aeon et al as my last resort, however, I'm going to keep trying something different. I found a job listing site that I had not previously known, and searched through it. I have to disqualify myself from the majority of positions dye to my inability to make sense of the business mumbo jumbo. I swear, they like using language I can't decipher just for the heck of it. But there's a definite career to be found within business gobbledygook, and money. My student loans and credit card need to be paid off --installments, yes, but I need cashflow for that. And the business world can set me up nicely, and provide me with enough work to distract me from problems. Two birds with one stone, and much more respectable than a glorified parakeet!

Actually, it probably would've been smarter to get a job in NYC, and apply for an overseas transfer. Fuck.

And sometimes, a little bit of light can be found. Or at least proof that TPTB are putting one over us. Or that I'll take a cheap and dirty laugh every time. It looks like penetration, personally.
