I have discovered a new OTP: Hitsugaya Toshiro and Hinamori Momo from Bleach. I am completely in love with Hitsugaya-taichou. I'm a sucker for steady devotion from fierce, quiet, stubborn little guys, what can I say?
So I'm on the prowl for good fanfiction for this new love of mine, but alas there isn't a great deal that isn't drabblefic and/or quiet introspection as she lies in a coma. I suppose there's only so many ways to explore that idea, but I'm kind of bored with it after reading 10 or so fics covering the same theme in much the same way. *sigh*
In some ways, Bleach lacks internal sense. All right, so you have the Rukongai where people's souls go when they die. Once in Rugonkai, you have little hope or chance of finding old loved ones, so you form family groups for support and company. The kid who's taking care of the Cockatiel boy died in 1941 or something, but still looks like a teen despite the fifty or so years that have passed. People from Rukongai can enter the Shinigami corps if they possess enough spirit energy, but for the most part appear to remain the same size and age as when they died.
So why is it that Renji, Rukia, and Yachiru of the pink hair 'grow up' before entering the Shinigami Academy? How does Hitsugaya age?
And what happens when a dead person dies again? Where is Rukia's older sister? Where is Kaien?
Does reincarnation exist in the Bleach mythology? If so, how does that process work?
These are probably just major plotholes that might've been addressed in the manga and not the anime, but after reading Death Note and the Fullmetal Alchemist manga, I'm sort of used to well-thought-out, super-internally-consistent worlds.
Hagaren manga totally spoils me. Which reminds me, I should read the latest chapter. It'd better not be as much of a drag as 59 --the backstory being covered just isn't that interesting, which is unusual for Hiromu-sensei.
