I am so not making it up: Naoko Takeuchi of Sailormoon fame did create a series post-Sailormoon about female alien agents who come to Earth on some mission or other, and their special ability is to turn into cockroaches. Oh wait, it gets better --to transform back into girls they must find someone to kiss as cockroaches.
Yeah, um, PQ Angels didn't exactly make it very far. I don't recall seeing any tankouban. And checking online reveals that the story ran for a grand total of four chapters before being scrapped as a disaster.
But now I have a title! And it's not just me making it up, I swear! Takeuchi-sensei just...went a little odd after SM, and took a break. Her newest series is about a girl who's not very collected under any circumstances and her best friend in the whole world builds her a robot girl to be her friend and help her out when she's in a 'Big PINCH!' Toki Meka I believe is the title; not quite as awesome as SM was (I don't think anything could be), but it's cute. I do miss the Takeuchi drawing style of early chapters of SM, though. It used to be rounded and not so many angles everywhere. *sigh* Then the pressure came on to produce, produce, produce so her lineart was shot.
She also started to produce this series called Love Witch, which I just found out about and looks really interesting. Sadly, it too has been cancelled and unreleased.
Takeuchi-sensei has married Togashi Yoshihiro, the created of Level E, Wicked Cupid (which if I recall correctly, had this boy who was crucial to opening up the gates of hell, so this demoness tried to have sex with him to unlock the gates. He had to lose his virginity in order to unleash Hell, so...*snickers* Fun one, that.) and, of course, Yu Yu Hakusho. They were married June 1999. They're finally putting out a collobarative work in the form of a children's book. *drools*
How awesome would it be if they produced a manga together? Granted, I think it would devolve into grounds for divorce, but the resulting work would be fun to read.
