I stayed up really late talking with Joelle about....Yugioh and Yu Yu Hakusho....in excruciating detail. Who am I? Who spends hours detailing the plotline of an anime that was originally a manga riff on Magic: The Gathering and wound up being commercialized in that manner? Who does that? I do. Me = the uber dork.
Though at least now she'll understand why I laugh about fics where Bakura (Tomb robber spirit) and Ryou (host body) are paired up via having separate bodies. I found this gem in the Pit, and could not stop laughing. There are SO many things wrong with it, I can't begin to explain.

Bakura has finally broken Ryou, making him commit suicide. However, he comes back...as a mutant. Bakura realizes he loves Ryou and is bent on making it up to him. YGOXmen x-over!
I'm trying to find decent Fullmetal Alchemist and Harry Potter crossover fics. As expected, there is bucketloads of garbage out there. And a couple of gems that I highly enjoy. One garbage fic introduced the Rose Alchemist, Ed's twin sister who did something bad and wound up with TWO automail arms. Yea-huh. Right. Lovely.
Oh, crossover fics. What a lovely excuse thou art for OOC and bad writing. Not to mention sloppy canon knowledge and roughshod examination of how two different worlds work together. For example, the physics of Ranma 1/2 undoubtedly jar quite violently with the physics of, say, Witch Hunter Robin. Not being a responsible author and ignoring this oddity and failing to explain the oddness and resulting tensions is just...well, silly. The producers/directors/writers of Ally McBeal and The Practice did a phenomenal job with their crossover pair of episodes. Simply phenomenal. Each series kept the proper tone and characterization of the established canon while playing in each other's world for a bit. It was a sight to behold, and really, it's worth watching.
And I find myself missing my pink/red striped bowl. Y'know, the lone eating surface I own. (Thank you, Jarcin, for giving me it to me.) Well, at least I'm not hungry per se. Undoubtedly it'll turn up soon. In the meantime, I have instant food in their own containers. And Poptarts.
