Fanfiction rocks my world. Especially when it makes me laugh.
Miroku looked from Hojo to Kaede and back. The young man wore what he supposed was his usual expression of vacant, cheerful, openness. Kaede's face was much harder to read. By his best guess, though, she found the echo in Hojo's skull to be a little unnerving.
-- a line that made me crack up from an Inuyasha fic entitled
This Can't Be Good. It's a quality funny romance fic, which is all too rare in the IY world. Well, like all good comedies, it has its serious moments to punctuate the humor, but generally amusing all the same. I wish there had been more, though I'm not entirely certain how that would've worked without feeling...drawn out. Since I cannot justify my feelings nor offer constructive suggestions, I will not complain overmuch about the wanting I feel right now.
There are three types of books/stories: Those that leave you wanting more, those that aren't enough of whatever aspect, and those rare, oh so precious, sublime works of perfect length, depth, and breadth. I like the feeling of happy completion at the end of the latter of these three; it's so nice to be sated. The warm buzz from one of Those lasts for hours.
I think I'll go ooze in moderate satisfaction now.
Updates on prior issues: I still think I'm socially inept, dangerously so (At least I'm not convinced I'm the Second Coming of Christ and the Anti-Christ like
this fellow here); I refused to talk with a something (I think a minor deity)that was trying to get my attention last night (not the smartest thing I've ever done...*sigh* Might as well add it to The List); and the fanfiction-for-sale girl has deleted her post and apologized with good grace.
