[SCENE] A Private Eye for the Unicorn Brothers

Kristoph: *arrives at Lana's agency at just the time he specified when he made his appointment. Though still irritated over the entire affair, once he's inside he composes himself admirably. With his briefcase in one hand he knocks on the door to Lana's office*

Lana: *glances up from her computer screen, taking the time to minimize her browser window before she looks to the door* Mr. Gavin? Please come in.

Kristoph: *enters, and smiles politely as he approaches* Thank you for agreeing to see me on such short notice, Ms. Skye.

Lana: *stands behind her desk, offering her hand forward* Think nothing of it. I understand the time constraints attorneys are faced with, and the demand you in particular are facing. *gestures towards the chairs in front of her desk* Please have a seat.

Kristoph: *does so, placing his briefcase on the floor* Then I'll be brief. A woman--a miss April May--is trying to harm my brother's reputation. I need information on her as quickly and discreetly as possible.

Lana: *her eyebrows lift slightly in surprise-obviously, this was not at all what she'd been expecting. She remains quiet until she takes her seat again* Trying to harm Klavier Gavin... Well--what information do you require?

Kristoph: *frowns uncomfortably, but soon realizes there is no way to tell Lana what he needs without giving everything away. He adjusts his glasses* Miss May is...with child. She is trying to pressure my brother into giving her money. As distasteful as it is, I need some kind of leverage on her to keep her from going to the press, at least until the child is born and a paternity test can be administered.

Lana: She's claiming the child is his... *frowns, studying Kristoph carefully* What is the possibility that her claims are true?

Kristoph: *his frown deepens* He says it's completely impossible. But if it reaches the press now, it won't matter--his professional image is such that no one would believe him. *folds his hands* Unless the child's real father can be found.

Lana: I don't believe he is the kind, personally... but you're right, it would be damaging even if a false rumor emerged. *reaches for her pen, taking a few notes upon a pad of paper as she speaks* I'll see what I can do, though depending on her... personality, sifting through potential candidates and locating the actual father could be a difficult affair. You mentioned her name was... April May?

Kristoph: Yes. Apparently she was convicted of perjury several years ago. I don't think she will be difficult to track down. *smiles faintly* Especially for someone as highly recommended as you.

Lana: Hmm. I recall that case, and Ms. May. *frowns again, as if recalling some sour memory* We'll start immediately. *and, speaking much more gently after she places aside the notepad* Your brother... How is he doing?

Kristoph: *sobers once more* He's very upset, naturally. I think it was even more of a shock to him than it was me. I've told him to keep his head down. *sighs* As his brother I wish I could will it away for him. But these things are never that simple.

Lana: *smiles softly at that* You're a good brother, Mr. Gavin.

Lana: *and sincerely, with conviction* These things can't be hidden away, as much as we'd like to protect our younger siblings. Tell him to relax, as much as he can. The truth will clear him--I'm sure of it.

Kristoph: Yes, I'm sure you're right. *stands and extends his hand* Thank you, Ms. Skye. I knew coming to you would be the right choice.

Lana: I'm pleased you think so. *stands as well, and shakes his hand*

Kristoph: *lets his hand fall, and hesitates a moment before making one last comment* By the way...whatever your investigation into Miss May happens to find, whether it be completely related to the case at hand or not...I would like to know about it.

Lana: *her brow furrows at that remark, though after a moment she nods* I understand. I'll keep you updated... But I will find the truth behind that particular matter.

Kristoph: Thank you. *plucks one of his business cards out of his breast pocket and hands it to her* Just in case. Good day, Ms. Skye.

Lana: Thank you. *accepts it* Good day, Mr. Gavin.

Kristoph: *smiles, nods, and shows himself out of the office*

Lana: *picks up the phone on her desk, dialling a number. As promised, she intends to start on this investigation immediately. As she waits for the phone to connect, she directs her attention to her computer's browser window again and starts reading...*
