We've been experiencing some very pleasant weather lately, haven't we?
It's fortunate we live in such a lovely climate. I've been taking more runs outside rather than going to the gym, and if it weren't for the fact that I need my car on a regular and immediate basis, I'd consider walking or biking to work as well. I often think that those two alternatives would be quicker when I'm caught in traffic each morning.
Last week, I had some business in Malibu and spent a little over five days there. Rather than enjoying the beaches--they're always too crowded for my tastes--I spent the majority of my free time hiking. There were nearby trails that led to rather scenic cliffsides, where one can see a far expanse of coastline. I believe I caught a glimpse of a pack of dolphins there, though I could have been quite mistaken.
I also took a day to explore the national parklands near Malibu. Although I've been there once or twice, those occasions were both before Ema was born. It's startling to see how much natural landscape still exists just an hour and a half from the L.A. city core, and being surrounded by mountains surpasses seeing them in the far distance on a clear day. There was far too much to experience in just one day, and I'll definitely be returning there again in the future.
