my grandmother had a massive stroke friday morning. we were told she probably wouldn't make it through the weekend. now it looks like she'll be home, albeit paralysed on her left side, in a couple of weeks.
she's amazing.
the emotional and physical toll of saying goodbye to someone, especially someone who was lucid and vocal about being ready to go, can not be underestimated. i am exhausted in every sense of the word.
last tuesday, a very special high school teacher of mine passed away suddenly. i'm missing the funeral, which i would very much like to be at, to go to new zealand with my parents, a trip that was cancelled on friday when things looked dire, and then re-booked, frantically, but somewhat half-heartedly. although i know we're going to have an amazing time once we're there, in all honesty, i don't think any of us much feel like trying to get organised to go now.
mostly i am just going to be very glad to be with family.
to everyone: i hope you and your families have a safe and happy christmas.
