Last night, as of about 11:20pm GMT, ThoseGuys became the FIRST Linkshell on Fairy to take down...
Vrtra.
Having been one of the only two (at the time, we had three in the end) WHMs to sign up (damn holiday season!), I was lucky enough to get in the tank party in main alliance. People congratulated me afterwards for doing such a good job, but I have to say I didn't feel proud of myself... I felt proud of *every person there*. Sorry to be so corny, but that's just how it was :)
TG had ~50 people there, and the fight was pretty much flawless. Couple of close moments that were bound to happen, but we always kept our heads and recovered with no problems.
I couldn't keep an eye on what was going on outside main alliance (well, outside tank party, really >_<) but we only suffered a few deaths. I died THREE times >_< First time, I got caught by Breath for 1300+ damage (ouch), second time was because I had hate but couldn't log because Isset (the other WHM) had logged to reset hate already, so I died from Vrtra and a skelly add ¬_¬ I had Reraise up, luckily, so raised myself, Vrtra promptly came round the corner and slept everyone, and I promptly died again -.- Got a R1 from Klistel, Isset got back, and we went on like nothing had happened. (At that point as well, Decay, our RDM, had logged, so no one had any MP lol Fun! :D)
I can't talk about the strategy, that's just not my thing I'm afraid. Plenty of other people around (leldoran for one) who will be able to talk about the melee side of things. All I can say is what an absolutely AMAZING job everyone did. Three alliances, 50-odd people (as well as a couple of people from outside who were very kindly helping on cures without being asked), dozens of adds at once, and a f*cking big blue dragon running round in cirles... And we breezed through it ^_^
I love my title, wouldn't trade it in for anything, but that's not why I couldn't sleep last night. Being a part of something *this* huge, being a part of the first linkshell to take down something only talked about in jest by most people... Just being able to be there, it's a feeling so overwhelming I just can't describe it. I will never, ever forget what this feels like :)
So many things helped this fight be the success it was, it's so hard to list them all and I can only list the things that I saw and was part of...
- Putting cookies in my bazaar so November could buy them as we ran to the SMN corner
- Dying the second time and within seconds getting a /tell from a complete stranger (Donagh, I think) asking if R2 would be okay for me. Damn, makes my heart swell :)
- Dying for the third time and sending that complete stranger a /tell to say R2 would be lovely, thanks ^^;; and to be told that they'd died as well >_<
- Getting the R1 from Klistel
- All the people helping out constantly on cures, and being on top of waking anyone up if we happened to get slept. I specifically remember seeing a lot of cures coming from Pinkfae (PLD), when he wasn't tanking the adds
- The PLD that was there to cheer us on, Jared. He ran round with us whenever he could and threw out cures to help us out
- Looking over to Lel's screen at one point and seeing he was in the red. I asked if he needed my help and he said nono, he was fine. He got a cure after that and I realised he was weakened. He'd died and I hadn't even noticed ;_; I found out later he'd died twice, as well as a bunch of other people I didn't even know about. That's how great everyone was - any deaths were dealt with calmly and quietly, and everyone just got back up and carried on. <3
- Lel standing guard over me while I was weakend the second time
- Trying desperately to cure Therin, until people on the ls started shouting "Therin's charmed, Therin's charmed!". lol Wewps ^^;
- Damn Dispelga! Took mine and Isset's Reraise every damn time! >_<
- Getting a /tell from Isset while I was resting (lol possibly from weakened) saying "This is fun! ^^". YEAH IT IS!! :D
- Mine and Isset's poison pots running out at the same time. We both got slept with Vrtra at 1% and were crapping ourselves that everything was going to go wrong. We were screaming for a cure but everyone was either dead, too busy, or just desperately trying to bring Vrtra down. Vrtra went down, and I was still yelling for a cure >_< I wanted a picture of the kill shot :( (Sleep eventually wore ¬_¬)
There was just so much... And not much more I can say. Go check out KI or Alla, I'm sure people are talking about it there ¬_¬
Once again, I just want to say how proud I am to be a part of this linkshell. Thank you ^_^
