Stuff that's happening
So yah, I lost another job. Had a very major dental emergency, missed four days in a row. Despite having left a message for the boss and speaking directly with someone in HR, no one told me "hey, come in anyway, even though you don't have any teeth at all at the moment." They decided to wait until I was back to say that I should have come in regardless. Though, even then, I don't think I'd have felt comfortable doing so. I mean, I might have if I knew they were going to fire me over it, but I was stupid and optimistic and assumed they'd be reasonable. Such is life.
Have been semi-unable to pursue other work at the moment, as my luck continues to hold true, and I currently have pinkeye. I could submit the applications, but I have a terror that they'll call and I'll have to go "oh, umm, can't do an interview tomorrow, I have pinkeye" and they'll go "oh, no problem, we have a stack of applications four feet high, nice talking to you." Seems to be clearing up a touch though, so this is good. And thanks to the fact that nearly everyone at my old job was looking for something else, and no one was very quiet about it, I know quite a few places that are hiring. Just a matter of trying to move my resume around so it doesn't look quite as bad as it is.
