Job Interview

Feb 21, 2014 15:48

Well, I had that second-round phone interview today for an Administrative Assistant 4 position with Wells Fargo in Long Beach. For this round, I spoke with the hiring manager and a Human Resources consultant for a little over a half hour this afternoon. I tend to be a little wobbly and nervous in interviews, but I came away from this one with a generally positive outlook. Both women were very friendly and conversational and put me more at ease. Naturally, there are things I could have done better, however I feel I was articulate and gave good examples when needed with barely any hesitation. For the meeting, I reserved a conference room on an upper floor as not to be disturbed by any of my co-workers, and it worked out well. I was able to spread out and speak with more confidence. I also noticed that time seemed to fly by, which I choose to take as a good sign.

The decision on the next round won’t be made until the week of March 3rd, as the hiring manager is traveling next week. If I do make the cut, I (as well as the other finalist) will be invited out to Long Beach sometime in the week of March 10th for an in-person meeting and tour of the offices. Long Beach is a bit of a commute - a little longer than I first thought - and it would mean at least an hour plus on the train every day. But the way I look at it, I can use that time to catch up on reading (or napping).

Now the waiting begins. And we all know how good I am about waiting. In the meantime, I can at least take some solace in the idea that I feel positive about my performance and even if I don't end up moving forward with this opportunity I can build on it for the next (however unlikely) interview. And I still have my 'end date' in sight. Knowing that I will be home in L.A. by this fall goes a long way.
