What better way to re-introduce myself to LJ than with a meme stolen from luvscharlie? I haven’t been around in a very very long time, but I am going to make a concerted effort to be here this year. I’ve missed it. Hope everyone had a great New Year!



1. How old will you be in five years?
49….Wow, had to take a moment to let that sink in.

2. Who did you spend at least two hours with today?
Sadly at this point in the day the only ones whom I have seen for two consecutive hours are my co-workers.

3. How tall are you?
4'11 (and ¾)" But I tell people I’m 5'0", mainly because it takes less time to say (and it makes me feel taller).

4. What do you look forward to most in the next six weeks?
I don’t really have anything on my calendar. I guess I’d say the arrival of Spring, since winter is pretty much sucking right now.

5. What's the last movie you saw?
Hunger Games: Catching Fire. It was awesome.

6. Who was the last person you called?
My uncle, to ask for advice on an issue with frozen pipes last weekend. But I ended up talking to my aunt for a while since he was out on calls dealing with, of course, frozen pipes.

7. Who was the last person to call you?
My aunt, to check up on my frozen pipes.

8. Who was the last text message you received?
My dad.

9. Who was the last person to leave you a voice mail?
My sister.

10. Do you prefer to call or text?
Depends on who I want to communicate with, but usually texting.

11. What were you doing at 12am last night?
Sleeping.

12. Are your parents married/divorced?
Divorced.

13. When did you last see your mom?
December 29th just before I flew home from L.A. *sniff*

14. What color are your eyes?
Blue.

15. What time did you wake up today?
5:15. Cats decided that was a good time to eat breakfast.

16. What are you wearing right now?
I am wearing a blue, white & green striped sweater and black pants.

17. What is your favourite Christmas song?
"Winter Wonderland", version done by the Eurythmics

18. Where is your favourite place to be?
Home. (As in, Los Angeles. And I hope to be back there in 2014.)

19. Where is your least favourite place to be?
Everywhere that isn't home. [ luvscharlie’s answer, but I'm keeping it.]

20. Where would you go if you could go anywhere?
LONDON. I want to go to London so badly I can feel it in my bones. I must see the WB Studio Tour. Plus I’d love to see Ireland, Italy, and Hawaii.

21. Where do you think you’ll be in 10 years?
Back in Los Angeles, being a super-indulgent aunt to my sister’s future children, and teaching them all about Harry Potter.

22. Do you tan or burn?
Burn burn burn.

23. What did you fear was going to get you at night as a child?
Dracula. This was an ongoing nightmare that plagued me for years. I slept with the covers pulled up to my neck.

24. What was the last thing that really made you laugh?
The posting of "Cat Shaming" on Facebook.

25. How many TVs do you have in your house?
One.

26. How big is your bed?
Full.

27. Do you have a laptop or desktop computer?
Macbook.

28. Do you sleep with or without clothes on?
With.

29. What colour are your sheets?
Right now, cream.

30. How many pillows do you sleep with?
Two, plus a new Coca-Cola pillow from my sister.

31. What is your favourite season?
Autumn, with Spring a close second.

33. What do you like about winter?
Not much, at the moment. Although I like the idea of snuggling by a warm fire and drinking hot chocolate. But I don’t have a fireplace.

34. What do you like about the summer?
Again, not much.

35. What do you like about spring?
The colors. I like spring colors and flowers.

36. How many states/provinces have you lived in?
4 - New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, California

37. What cities/towns have you lived in?
Mineola, NY; Rochester, NY; New Haven, CT; Cambridge, MA; South Pasadena, CA; Alhambra, CA; Pasadena, CA; Chestnut Hill, MA

38. Do you prefer shoes, socks, or bare feet?
Socks.

39. Are you a social person?
Nope. I tend to prefer very small, intimate functions and I don’t have many close friends. I’m more social online than in my personal life.

40. What was the last thing you ate?
An Italian-style sandwich and pasta salad, with a pickle.

41. What is your favourite restaurant?
My favorite restaurant was a sports bar called Barney’s, in Old Town Pasadena. It sadly closed in December 2012. I also like Mijares Mexican Restaurant in Pasadena, CA.

42. What is your favourite ice cream?
Neopolitan

43. What is your favourite dessert?
My dad’s homemade apple pie

44. What is your favourite kind of soup?
Manhattan Clam Chowder

45. What kind of jelly do you like on your PB & J sandwich?
Grape. I haven’t had PB&J since I was in grammar school.

46. Do you like Chinese food?
Yes

47. Do you like coffee?
Not really, no.

48. How many glasses of water a day do you drink on average?
It varies, but usually at least three or four.

49. What do you drink in the morning?
Diet Coke

51. Do you sleep on a certain side of the bed?
Left side.

52. Do you know how to play poker?
No

53. Do you like to cuddle?
I would, if I had someone to cuddle with (cats don’t count).

54. Have you ever been to Canada?
No, although we drove very near Canada on a road trip from Massachusetts to California in 1980

55. Do you have an addictive personality?
I’d say so. I’m addicted to lots of things like food, fandom (Harry Potter, Duran Duran, X-Files) - stuff like that. And Diet Coke, of course. Once I find something I like, I really go full-on.

56. Do you eat out or at home more often?
Home. I'm trying really hard to work at this and save money and eat healthier. It's hard.

58. Do you know anyone with the same birthday as you?
I remember hearing that Frank Sinatra does (or did). And Bob Barker, and Mayim Bialik. But I don’t know anyone personally that does.

59. Do you want kids?
I thought I did at one time, but at this point I think I do better as an aunt (whether official or unofficial). I like kids, but I don’t think I have the patience for it 24/7. I’m too self-involved.

60. Do you speak any other languages?
I took 4 years of Spanish in high school & college, but I’ve forgotten a good deal of it.

61. Have you ever gotten stitches?
No.

62. Have you ever ridden in an ambulance?
Not that I can remember

63. Do you prefer an ocean or a pool?
The ocean, mainly because I love the sound of the waves breaking on the beach.

64. Do you prefer a window seat or an aisle seat?
Usually window seats.

65. Do you know how to drive stick?
Yes. Dad made sure we learned in case we were ever in an emergency situation where the only transportation was a car with a manual transmission. I haven’t driven one in years, but I’m sure it would come back to me immediately.

66. What is your favourite thing to spend money on?
Lots of things, but mostly Harry Potter memorabilia, and DVDs.

67. Do you wear any jewelry 24/7?
No, I take it off when I take a shower, and I don’t like to sleep in jewelry because it pokes (earrings) or could get broken. But I wear the same rings every day.

68. What is your favourite TV show?
It doesn’t specify current or defunct, but I have a lot of them: X-Files, Seinfeld, Big Bang Theory, Fringe, Dexter, Downton Abbey, Everybody Loves Raymond

69. Can you roll your tongue?
A little bit.

70. Who is the funniest person you know?
Probably my best friend, Nancy. She and I have the same sarcastic sense of humor. And we both like farts. But my brother-in-law, Jon, is pretty funny. He plays straight man to my sister’s crazy times.

71. Do you sleep with stuffed animals?
Um…yeah. I have a stuffed Eeyore, and my very first stuffed animal, Turtle, sits on the pillow next to mine.

72. What is the main ring tone on your phone?
Harry Potter theme. But members of my family have their own ringtones.

73. Do you still have clothes from when you were little?
Nope. Although my mom may have kept some of it, as she keeps a lot of that sort of thing.

74. What red object is closest to you right now?
My foam soda can holder.

75. Do you turn off the water while you brush your teeth?
No.

76. Do you sleep with your closet doors open or closed?
Open, a little bit. My cats like to go in there.

77. Would you rather be attacked by a big bear or a swarm of bees?
Neither.

78. Do you flirt a lot?
I’ve been told that I do flirt even when I’m not trying to. I don’t know if I’d say it happens “a lot”, but it happens.

79. What do you dip a chicken nugget in?
Don’t really eat chicken nuggets, so I don’t know what to answer here.

80. What is your favourite food?
Ugh, I can’t possibly pick one food. I love so many things, although mostly homemade recipes from either my mom or my dad. Mom’s Chili Con Carne and Shepherd’s Pie come to mind. Dad’s apple pie and pizza.

81. Can you change the oil on a car?
No

82. Have you ever gotten a speeding ticket?
No, but I got a ticket for not having an inspection sticker on my car in 2010.

83. Have you ever run out of gas?
Nope, although I came very close coming home from Hartford, CT last summer when luvscharlie and I went to see Stephen King speak at the Mark Twain House.

84. What is your usual bed time?
Usual time? Maybe 10:00, except on big TV nights, then it would be around 11:00. But it is not unheard of for me to doze off in front of the TV around 9:30.

85. What was the last book you read?
Harry Potter & the Order of the Phoenix (I was doing a re-read and then got distracted by real life nonsense and haven’t gotten back to it). Non-Harry Potter related book was 11/22/63 by Stephen King.

86. Do you read the newspaper?
No, I get my news online for the most part.

87. Do you have any magazine subscriptions?
Entertainment Weekly, InStyle, New Yorker, People, US Weekly, Vanity Fair

89. Do you watch soap operas?
No, although I was a huge fan in junior high & high school. Days of Our Lives & the Young & the Restless.

90. Do you dance in the car?
No

91. What radio station did you last listen to?
I rarely listen to the radio. I don’t even know the call numbers for radio stations here in Boston and I’ve lived here for four years.

92. Who is in the picture frame closest to you?
My sister.

93. What was the last note you scribbled on a piece of paper?
A phone number for a telephone message

94. What is your favourite candle scent?
Vanilla or Lavender

95. What is your favourite board game?
Haven’t played one in ages, but I guess Monopoly

97. When was the last time you attended church?
My cousin’s wedding in 2011. Not sure if this is meant strictly for religious services or for special occasions, but nonetheless that is the last time I was in a church.

98. Who was your favourite teacher in high school?
My 12th grade English teacher was a real hoot. Mr. Nicholson.

99. What is the longest you have ever camped out in a tent?
Can’t remember, maybe 3-4 days. We used to do a lot of camping as a family when I was a kid. My brother & I found out we were getting a baby sister while on a camping trip to Sequoia National Forest.

100. Who was the last person to do something extra special for you?
My dad, who slipped me $100 just before I left to come back from L.A., because he said “I know you can use this.” I’d also say my landlord’s son, who went the extra mile to get my frozen pipes fixed over the weekend, but I don’t know if that counts as ‘special’, since that was his job anyway…
