Daniel bite his lip. Daniel had a feeling that was the need to explain himself, and he did. He lied through his pearly white teeth “ I have a bum arm!” Thinking to himself, ‘Lying that’s why I was shorted in Slytherin’. He turned in the direction of the gentle spirited girl and replied to her question “Not sure why I was housed here, ask the ’ all knowing, doxie infested’ sorting hat!” Daniel wasn’t in a good mood. As it was, he was always moody and depressed. ‘Will this girl leave me alone?’ Being extra careful with his wording he started to notice the other students looking on and he toned his voice a few degrees down . ‘ I just am. It’s the way of things. Not all of us are primarily evil though. My mother was a Slytherin. That could have something to do with it. He was hoping the girl would just walk away. “I know of.. I have friends in Ravenclaw.. The Brocklehurst are close friends with the Harpers”. Daniel wasn’t too fond of the Brocklehurst lot, but his father was friends with them. This is how Daniel was on good terms with Mandy Brocklehurst, whom he had sweet talked into getting the shoes for him. Daniel felt no longer threaten by the young girl and began to disarm his wand, as he did he started to feel the shoes slip.
Luna smiled and nodded. "Yes, I believe that the Brocklehurst family try to avoid my family. But that's not strange. I have come to realize that a lot of people are threatened by my fathers position at The Quibbler."
Luna kept looking straight at Daniel. She had always learned as a young girl that you should keep eye contact with people when speaking with them.
"You have very extraordinary eyes. They're quite striking really." She noted in her dreamy voice.
‘Great, she is not going!’ Daniel thought to himself. He was now staring at the girl who seemed to be in a trance. However, hearing the girls compliant he replied in a confident manor, “Thank you kindly” and flashed a smile exposing his teeth. Manors where of utmost import to the Slytherin and he no longer felt threaten from Luna. “ The Quibbler, never heard of it. Do you think I could borrow a copy?” Still attempting to divert her and he had a hidden agenda. He was determined to get the young girls shoes back to the Slytherin common room. Daniel had the girl’s shoes under his robes and the girl was complaining him? A Ravenclaw complimenting? He almost felt depressed. Daniel’s jade eyes eyed the young girl’s slim body up and down. Clicking his tongue he mentioned, “Yeah, I would love see a copy of the Quibbler.”
Luna nodded happily. "Yes, the Daily Prophet tries to keep the Quibbler under wraps because we're a threat to them. But we manage. I'll be happy to get a copy to you. I'll send a House elf to your common room with it tonight." She said smiling.
"Anyway, I think that I'll go and have some pudding." Luna looked at her table and then smiled. "Would you want to join me?"
Daniel looked around making sure none of his other Slytherin’s where around. How embrassing it would be for a Slytherin to be mingling with a Ravenclaw. On top of that Daniel was unsure what her blood type was. He snickered under his breath. ‘Can’t I’m allergic to the House Elf’s pudding’ Daniel was lying once again. He was perplexed by the odd girl’s extra kindness, but it was growing on him, ‘I have transfiguration homework to practice’ I got to go. Holding on to these shoes for so long was becoming uncomfortable. All of the sudden Daniel felt something give way, one of the black leather shoes slipped from under his robes. ‘Bloody hell!’ Daniel bark.
Luna watched as the familiar looking shoe fell and she leaned down and picked it up. She looked it over and looked up at him.
"I think you dropped this." She said handing it to him with a smile. "It's funny, I lost a pair of shoes that look just like that. I suspect nargles are behind it though."
Daniel was puzzled and he was took back as the blonde girl handed back her own shoe! “Thanks. Oh you got to watch out for Nargles, nasty things they are!” Daniel took the shoe back with pride. The young girl’s clueless sense about things was warming up to him and he hoped to see her again. “I will tell you what, I will take a rain check with getting something to eat. No pudding though. Can you meet me tomorrow ?” He flashed an ear to ear grin. “And please bring a copy of the Quibbler, if the house elf forgets” He nodded.
Luna was a little curious as to why he wanted to meet her, but she never was one to turn down someone wanting to hang out. With so few friends to her name she was always up for making new ones.
"Of course I will. Where did you want to meet?"
Luna thought for a moment and wondered why exactly a boy was harboring a girls shoe. But then again she heard that some guys were weird like that. Not that she really had a right to say anyone was weird.
“ Before your head starts to wonder” he spoke. “ Yes, the shoes are from a girl in Slytherin. I was using them for a transfiguration project.“ He nodded. “ How are you with transfiguration? That’s the only subject I seem to be good in”. He went on. “ Will the astronomy tower work for you? At 6 o’clock?”
Luna smiled kindly. "I do seem to have a little bit more trouble mastering Transfiguration. You are quite lucky to have no problems with it."
She looked over at the pudding she had been wanting and then waved him off slightly. "6 o'clock." She mimicked as she took a bowl and began eating it happily.
