it's probably the single most lighthearted entry in the entire series
taking us back to the early days of the Marble Hornets filming
a bunch of guys just chilling out and having fun and working on their hilariously shitty pretentious student film
(seriously it's nothing but brian leaning against things while staring longingly and pensively off in the distance while he spouts off terrible dialogue* and weird shit happens around him in fucked up buildings)
(*I JUST FEEL LIKE A DEPRESSED TEENAGER ALL OVER AGAIN, STUCK IN A LOOP OF UNHAPPINESS)
but jesus
for pretty much the first time since this series started we actually get to see alex acting relaxed and chill and just a little bit happy
and then tim's over there playing that fucking ukelele and being bros with brian
and even in the beginning we get that glimpse of seth, who hasn't been mentioned since entry #22, and even jay's there
and it's just
so
fucking
sad
because in just a little while, most of the guys in that video are either going to be dead or five different flavors of fucked up and trying to stalk and violently hellmurder each other
(jay you are not exempt from this description, your reaction to those tapes of your missing seven months was "let's kill that alex fucker," okay, you are no better than anyone else in this series)
I do like how this season is shaping up, despite the glacially slow pace we've been moving, but hey, that's marble hornets for you
but PATTERNS
season one was all about alex's tragic slow burning descent into paranoia and madness as he's faced with this terrible, inescapable horror
season two we got to know jay as more than just as a bunch of analytical white text on a black screen trying desperately to maintain some sort of emotional distance from the horrific things he watched happening to him and his friends as some sort of ultimately useless coping mechanism (we all know you're suffering from ptsd, dude, don't even lie)
season three seems to be THE ADVENTURES OF TIM AND THOSE FUCKING SIDEBURNS and oh my god you can fucking see the terror in his eyes in 57 oh no help I'm falling down all these feelings
this series is going to emotionally ruin me before it's over
(but no seriously those fucking sideburns man what do you even do to get those sell your soul to the devil or something)
