Long Time Coming

So, life never seems to get any better. Just when you think maybe it will level out for a bit, something else crashes down on me. I never get to get very far before I get pulled another 3 steps backwards.
The only really good thing: I've lost 6 pounds:)
Work is the usual, except that they handed us a letter with our last paycheck stating that due to the economy, yadayada, so as not to have to start laying anyone off, anyone who was hired for 40+ hours will now officially be dropped down to 37- hours. Yup, that's me. We have to do MORE WORK in LESS TIME. And the place is going through a bazillion other changes, it feels like living chaos, which is not the best environment for me, but I have been doing my best to shroud myself in positive thoughts, and getting through the days. What I would like to know is if they need to cut our hours cuz things are so bad, then how did they afford the 30+ wall-mounted flat screen TVs they have been installing around the place for the past several weeks? Oh, and remember the supposed AC that would be added to the laundry room? I have yet to see a single person come to start any work. Because our census has been so low for so long, they have started taking in anybody. We have people in for rehab that leave quickly, we have people who are just coming here to die that sometimes only last a day, and we get the whackjobs that no other facility will take. And the other day when our boss was going over the changes with us, one of the brilliant people I work with, when my boss mentioned how "the census has been so low," asked, "what's that?" She has been there nearly 5 years, she is in her mid 40's with two teenage kids, she is not foreign, and she had no idea what "census" meant. *facepalm*

Meanwhile my "new" little bomb of a car needed a NEW gastank, and two new tires for the front. My aunt's roommate said he could do the gastank, and he did. I got a whole brand-new tank installed for under $300. (He tried getting a gas tank from a junkyard but the few he found for my car were in just as bad shape as the one I had.) So when he does that he says "I can get you two tires, all I need is $80 and I can get you the two tires plus I'll mount them for you." That was a week ago. He told me it would be a day or two. On Monday coming home from work the steel blew thru my front driverside tire. I tried to change it to the spare myself but I could only manage to budge one out of four lugnuts. My neighbor saw me and he changed it for me. (I love my neighbors, they are the best I have ever had.) I made it to work on the damned donut, and I had called the guy the night before letting him know what happened and that I REALLY needed those tires that I had already paid him for. He said he would have them when I got out of work on Tuesday. Before I got out of work I called him and he said he "hadn't gotten a hold of his buddy yet." I figured I would just try to make it home.
When I went out to the parking lot, my "spare" was just about flat.
   I was screwed.
*Luckily* there is a car dealer with a  tire and lube garage right at the bottom of the hill from work, and I called them, explained what kind of situation I was in, and they said they could help me but it would take an hour to be able to get a hold of the tires. I said that was fine. I got the car there, and I walked about a mile down the road to grab a drink, then came back to pick up my car. $160 later with a list of things "I really should fix," I was at least headed home. I was mad. When I got in I kept trying to call my aunt's house but the line was busy. I finally got through and he answered and I told him what happened, explained how I was stranded at work, and had absolutely no choice but to buy tires from the garage. He sounded ticked! It wasn't MY fault, HE OFFERED to get them, I didn't ASK him to get them, plus I PAID hime so he could get them, he told me it would be a "day or two," and it was a WEEK LATER< and I had two blown tires! I could have ended up in a tree! So I'm like "sorry but I had to do it and I won't need your tires anymore," and he tells me "Well I won't have your money for you till the beginning of next month." So what the hell did he do with it? He didn't buy the tires, and I KNOW it didn't go to help my poor little aunt. Grrr. This is what happenes when your life is so sad and pathetic that you have to ask an illiterate drug addict to work on your car. While I am thankful that he did the gas tank thing, I am still pissed over the tire situation!
Um, yeah, so that's been my life lately. I'm just going to put some pix behind a cut for anyone who wants to see what I have been making lately...It's been one of my saving graces.:(
