This is kind of late, but my fourth of July was wonderful. Anamarie and I went to her hometown of Mason Ohio and went to King’s Island. Let me tell you that was a wonderful park. It’s a sister park to Kings Dominion, so there were a lot of similarities, but there was still a lot of differences too. King’s Island has the best wooden coaster I’ve ever been on, THE BEAST. The Beast is a fast, smooth, world record wooden coaster. It’s the world’s longest wooden coaster. The ride last for over three minutes. The best part is riding it at night. >.< I went to go back again!!! Just for that coaster.
I also ride the Son of Beast. Not so much on the fun side. It hurt; in fact, I was left in a ton of pain after riding it. The Son of Beast broke three records. I did some reading on-line and discovered that not only is it the tallest wooden roller coaster, it is also the fastest. Reach speeds of around 75 mph. Its father could reach speeds of around 65 mph. The other record the Son of Beast held was it was the only wooden coaster with a loop. Unfortunately, do to engineering flaws; the loop was taken out before I could ride it. = ( I am very sad about that.
The other ride that I’m going to note on King’s Island is the Fire Hawk. It’s the first flying coaster I’ve ever been on. A flying coaster is one where you are on your back or stomach most of the ride. Or at least that was the case with the Fire Hawk. I didn’t get the greatest explanation on-line for other flying coasters. There are not a lot of them. Six Flags’ Batman coaster is a flying coaster. It was pretty scary. The ride started off with sitting in the chair. Then after everyone is settled, the sits lay back. (Originally, they were supposed to lay back right before you went done the first hill, but that function was broken on the Fire Hawk when I went.) Then the coaster goes up the first loop while you’re on your back. This is all done backwards as well. As the coaster goes down the first hill, you flip over on stomach, and the rest of ride flies you around the place. It was fun, but very scary. I’m also not hundred percent sure if it safe, but since King’s Island has a good reputation, I won’t worry too much.
Now King’s Island wasn’t the only fun part of the visit to Mason. Caroline had us go to the most awesome Tea House ever. We went for Caroline’s friend’s birthday party. It was super fun. We had a “light” afternoon tea. The place was super cool too. We ate in the room where a woman named Rebecca was killed. The place is said to be haunted, so that made it even cooler. There was a whole bunch of other history tied to the place. I only could remember two other pieces of history from that place. That there was an Underground Rail Road and a Speak Easy. I really wish I brought some tea to bring home from there, but I forgot.
Well, that was a great weekend. I thought I post a little about the tea house and Kings Island. If anyone ever visits Mason Ohio, I’d highly recommend visiting both places. Don’t however go the antique store. There’s nothing good there and the owner was super creepy.
