Angelica is 4 months old!

Isn't she precious?

Che rica! :)

It feels odd not to go back to school when september rolls around.  And in what i'm sure will feel like the blink of an eye, I'll be getting Angelica ready for her first day at school.  The world seems to turn a little bit faster these days. I can't believe Angelica is already four months old. I can't believe Al and I have been married for seven months.  I can't believe how blessed we are.

Angelica is busy discover the wonders of touch and taste. Her hand-eye coordination is getting better every day.  And she controls her hands enough to be able to reach for toys, and run her fingers over anything she finds interesting.  We have a really soft blanket - one of thsoe pottery barn types - and Angelica sets her face into a very serious look as she explores the knots and tassels with her tiny little fingers.  And she smiles the biggest smiles. Her nose wrinkles and her eyes squint and her cheeks become these round little apples and she'll let out a "hee!" It's impossible not to smile back.

Alban is wrapped around Angelica's little finger... as we all are, of course.  When he comes home from work, both their eyes light up because papa means "play time."  Alban has been much more relaxed lately.  He's still working at the collision shop, but we were just approved by Immigration for a no-restrictions work permit for him... which has opened countless doors of opportunity.  He's now busy deciding which direction to take.  He has the equivalent of an associates degree from costa rica in electrical work, and this new permit will allow him to go to school here if he likes.  Its such a relief that the immigration seems to be proceeding in a favorable direction. I guess I filled out all those papers correctly. (Immigration law, here I come? )

I am still working part time for LaSalle.  I'm still hoping to go full time if at all possible, but for now part time provides a good balance of Angelica time and extra income.  I really enjoy the girls I work with.  They took me out to dinner on Monday after work - and it was the first time I've really "gone out" since Angelica was born.  I sipped a Margarita and was home by 8pm... and thought about Angelica every second, but I think its a good thing to have people encouraging me to "get out" once and awhile. Alban watched Angel, and he was pretty excited that my friends were able to convince me to go out as well.  He's afraid I'm becoming a home-body. But what else can be expected when I have such a fabulous baby waiting for me at the house?

We've had some really fun times this summer.  Most Saturdays were spent at Heritage park, where we'd have a huge soccer game and a picnic/bbq afterwards.  Angelica loves to be outside, and she was always the star at the park.  Our friend Patricio and his wife Sara had a pig roast at their house a couple of weeks ago - and the food was amazing.  they roasted a whole pig Ecuadorian style and had countless other dishes from Pati's homeland.  We also had Angelica's christening a few weeks ago.  She was baptized at St. Colette and we had a party for her at my parents house afterwards.  The weather was fabulous, and Oscar, her padrino, was able to drive in from New Jersey for the weekend.  We're working on convincing him to move to Michigan, which would be fabulous.

And tonight, Autumn is rolling in.  We lost power at our apartment due to the thunderstorms, so Angelica and I are having a "sleep over" at grandma and grandpa's house... poor Al and his mom went back to the apartment. They seem convinced that the power will come back on... but it's 11:15 and they haven't called yet with the "all clear."  Speaking of it being 11:15, its passed my bedtime.  Goodnight moon!

love and hugs,

kristina
