Spring break!

Mar 13, 2012 12:29

Well, the library here is open today (and yesterday, but I had to do some grocery shopping instead of coming here to be online :(... ) so here I am, checking email and about to check my flist, etc. So, starting tomorrow, I won't have access to the internet until next Monday. During my spring break, I have homework. Yuck. I'm trying to do some of my math today (key word: trying), and maybe some other RL stuff I should be doing....

Anyway, I'm so happy to announce that I'm nearly done with my one fic! I was writing on it like a fiend Sunday night to very early Monday morning (3 am to be exact!). I just have the epilogue to do, and then a re-read of the fic so I can make edits and fix things, etc. I'm debating on having a beta reader. If anyone is interested in helping me (once I'm done, which I should be by next week) that would be great. Just reply to this entry and let me know, or PM me. :) Info on what the fic's about: It's a futuristic AU (WAAAAAY into the future, like science fiction type of fic) where Arthur is the captain of a starship and Merlin (aka M.E.R.L.I.N., which is the name of the fic itself) is his maintenance and sex robot. :) It was so much fun to write and I'm very pleased with it.

RL news: bumped into my big sis yesterday at Walmart and we chatted for a bit. Because she is no longer welcome at our place thanks to my eldest brother (not my brother that's closest to me and has a LJ, but the other brother that had four kids that are grown up now). Anyway, she was wondering if me and Mark were okay and if things were going well on the homefront, which they are, thankfully. Then she tells me that my nephew (eldest brother's oldest son) is in jail, again. She doesn't know why he is this time, just that whenever he goes to jail he phones her to let her know. XD It's sad, really. Because I remember when my nephew was still in diapers. *sigh*
My best friend from Junior High (& High School) was working then (she works at Walmart here), cashiering (is that the right word?) for the 20 items or less aisle. I was like "Well, I think I might have more than twenty items.." and she goes "I don't care..." So I was like, well cool. XD Then as I was unloading the cart of stuff for her to scan, she's like "I saw you talking to your sister... etc." I explained to her that she was worried for us, because she can't come to our house to check on us (like we really need it, but I suppose she's just being a worrying big sister) thanks to our older brother, that they'd gotten into a fight. She then asked what it was about and I said "Oh, just something stupid." And she giggled. ^_^ But it's true, my siblings (except my closest bro) are being idiots. All three of them. You'd think that growing up in the 70s would make them more tolerable or whatever. Most likely not. They're still stubborn (All five of us are, of course, but Mark and I hate confrontations and fights so we stay out of them as much as possible--probably why we get along better than our other siblings do).

The talk with my sister wasn't actually bad. We thankfully stayed away from talking politics or any of those kinds of issues, and we also talked about our other sister whom has changed a lot since her divorce from David. The guy she's with now is old enough to be her father. That part doesn't bother me, it's the influence he has on her and that hopefully he isn't mistreating her (and she went back to smoking and drinking). I can't hate her though, because of all those times we've spent together when I was younger. She babysat me and Mark a lot when she was a teenager, and her best friend was also around and an influence (she's still someone I talk to online on facebook) and has been like a sister to us. I miss those times when me and Mark would go to her and Dave's place wherever it was they lived... like when they lived in Duluth, that was some good times. Then they lived in Shakopee, and other places around Minnesota. Such fun times. It's hard not to think of them when I think of my second oldest sister. So really, I can't hate her at all. I've just lost contact so I don't know how she's doing. I don't know if she even wants to continue having contact with us, which is sad.

And that was more rambly than I had planned. Sorry. XD
