If you're referring to the response to tommorrow's episode, I think people are probably just disappointed that the plot is being played for comedy rather than drama, despite the obvious potential for darkness and angst. I really like the comedy on Merlin was well but I am disappoint that this specific episode is apparently comedy-oriented.
In that case one might say they shouldn't have gone for the darker plotline. :P IDK, Doctor Who is in the same slot and they get away with the Doctor doing some srsly horrifying shit from time to time.
I am still majorly looking forward to tommorrow's episode, it looks delightful either way.
I like DW too, but I like the way Merlin is. I'm sure there will be plenty of angst to come for the last series (I don't look forward to crying when watching Merlin).
I can't wait to see it when I get home tonight. :)
I haven't seen the newest Merlin yet, but I will tonight when I get home. :)
There are plenty of episodes that have angst and stuff, and I honestly don't like watching angsty things all the time. I don't want to just cry and feel miserable when I watch something, I want to laugh too, and smile, and get excited, and feel anxious for the characters, etc. Too much angst is just too much. XD
I absolutely agree with you, I don't want angst all the time either. And as it happens, having seen the episode, the comedy was handled better than I expected (ie it was actually funny and had the appropriate darker edge to it).
