This, Kame thought as he surveyed the plain, now littered with the fallen Takeda troops, this is history.
I really love this line. I love that Kame is already thinking about the bigger picture, how awed he is that he is part of something as fantastic as uniting Japan, and yet at the same time how he understands that with war comes death and pain and destruction.
Junno was balancing on the ship's railing
Oh Junno. I love the little KT cameo's we get--how Koki is still Koki despite this being set in the 1570's. And ksjdjk Jin and Kame's first meeting is so perfect--Kame determined to be something and Jin thinking he's slightly batty.
"But you might be disappointed to find that Nobunaga already has a favorite, and no ( ... )

I was sort of trying to make characterizations work by somewhat mirroring RL? Very generally, anyway, with things getting tenser between them as they grew up, and never quite addressing the issue. IDK it made sense at the time.
I am very fond of famous sengoku figures, although in my head Ranmaru looks like this which is...distracting, to say the least. :D;
orz Next time I am going to write something retardedly happy, see if I don't.

I mean, really, Kame solo inspired fic.

Just as I expected *happy sigh*
The ending was very sad, but not unexpected. I mean, Kame's solo (plus, er, history) kind of asks for it. Still, despite that - and the fact that I'm not a big fan of sad endings - this was absolutely lovely.
Their characterization was very well done and so was everything else. I really like how you made them soldiers instead of Nobunaga and Ranmaru. I'm not saying that that wouldn't have been just as nice but, hm, I just like what you did here better than the other couple of 1582 inspired fics I've seen around.
And damn, this comment totally sucks and it's not what I wanted to post here at all but excuse me for I'm slightly sleepy and probably overwhelmed by your beautiful writing.

I had trouble wrapping my brain around the idea of them as Nobunaga and Ranmaru. XD; Largely because, to me, Nobunaga and Ranmaru are distinct characters themselves. Totally could not combine them.
aldshakl I feel like this isn't really my best writing, I hope I can do better next time. Thank you for reading and commenting as always. ;o; ♥

I won't lie and say that a possible lack of sad endings in the future doesn't make me happy. Like I said, happy endings are always more, hm, satisfying. So to speak.
I'm glad you did! Like I said, I think you made Jin and Kame much more unique in this by not making them Nobunaga and Ranmaru. Kame had space to be his dedicated, sacrificing, hard working self and Jin had space to be, well, Jin ;)
djapso your writing was lovely, don't worry about it ♥

this was totally good.
"I was glad to meet you, and I wanted...you to live. Aren't I a selfish bastard?"
--i like this line very much, cuz all human beings are selfish, jin just reflects on them.

Poor Jin, it's not like he even asked for much. :\
