"Open," Leeteuk commands firmly, but his eyes are crinkled at the corners and his mouth is smiling. It's the closed-doors smile, not as bright and full and captivating as the on-camera smile - there's a trace of tiredness, sometimes a human falter, and sometimes it's not really a smile at all. Right now, though, it's quite content and maybe a bit smug.
"You could just hand me the spoon," Kyuhyun points out, but he's grinning, too.
Leeteuk shakes his head. "You like being spoiled too much."
"Probably," he admits. When the tip of the spoon comes to rest over his lower lip, he opens obligingly to accept the fresh chunk of pineapple. His eyes go a little wide immediately after the first bite and he makes an appreciative sound while he chews.
"Good, isn't it?" ...Maybe more than a bit smug.
"Very good. Where did you get it?"
"The store, duh." Leeteuk laughs and scoops up a piece for himself. The taste bursts in his mouth like it had a few hours ago when he'd cut it (okay, he'd made Kangin cut it, but the point remains). "They sell more there than ramyun there, you know. It wouldn't be bad to keep our kitchen respectable."
"Pineapple makes your kitchen respectable?"
"You know what I mean." He tries not to slump too obviously into the couch cushions, keeping his tone light, "Sometimes the entertainment business takes years off my life."
Kyuhyun is sensitive to his mood though, an awareness that Leeteuk didn't know was there until they'd spent more time alone together after the accident. The other man (twenty now, not such a kid anymore) shifts closer until they're pressed hip-to-hip, cozy and confidential. "Hyung, they went out of their way to mess with the stuff in the fridge to be funny. Everyone knows that."
"I know. I just-" Leeteuk cuts himself off. It's late and he's had another long day, but that's no excuse for a responsible leader to whine.
"No one's going to think less of you over that, seriously. You worry too much."
"Comes with the job," he mutters, then sighs. "Sorry, I didn't mean that to sound bad."
"Nah, I know you love us all a whole lot." Kyuhyun pokes him in the ribs, teasing. "Especially me, right?"
Leeteuk catches his hand in case it decides to wander towards a ticklish zone. "A good parent doesn't choose between his children," he says sternly, but the dimple is back.
Kyuhyun raises an eyebrow at him, replying, "A good parent doesn't leave his porn out in the open, either."
Leeteuk collapses against him almost immediately, face flaming and shoulders shaking with laughter. The bowl of fruit in his lap tips precariously, but for the most part it manages to stay upright, losing only the spoon to the depths of the cushions (it will probably show up the next time someone loses the remote and prompts the ritual exploration of the vortex that is their couch). "I'm never going to hear the end of that, am I?" His voice is muffled by Kyuhyun's sleeve.
"It kind of was the highlight of the episode."
"Oh, well." He shrugs, turning his face so his cheek rests on Kyuhyun's shoulder. "You're all big boys, you don't need to be sheltered from the real world."
He listens to Kyuhyun's considering hum. "That's true, but I still need to be fed."
A grin is brought to Leeteuk's face. "Spoiled rotten," he accuses, but digs out a portion of pineapple between thumb and forefinger to hand-feed anyway.
"Loved best," Kyuhyun insists in the way only a youngest child can.
"Kangin and I must have gone wrong somewhere with you," Leeteuk muses, but loses the train of thought while watching Kyuhyun's throat move as he swallows. Perhaps it's time to drop the family analogy.
"You probably corrupted me."
"Funny," he says, holding up another piece of fruit and letting his fingers linger on Kyuhyun's lips. "I could say the same to you."
end
It might have been a mistake trying to focus on Leeteuk for this. I wanted to practice writing him rather than fall on Kyu as my comfort perspective, but I just had to go and make things difficult for myself. :| Which is why I chickened out and left off there. Actually, this whole thing was supposed to be sexier (I mean, come on, hand-feeding and sticky-sweet fruit juice!) but nothing went right.
Gah. Mei, I'm so sorry this experiment failed. D: I will try harder next time!
