birthday hats

Dec 22, 2006 01:04

I've been knitting like a woman possessed/obsessed for the past few weeks, trying to finish presents in time for holiday giving. I'll post lots of photos once they've been gifted. For now, here are pictures of two hats I made this fall for birthday gifts: ( hat pics! )

Ooh, those are really great! I especially like the basketweave one. It looks so tricky, was it?

The basketweave wasn't that difficult once I got started, because it's just a repetition of a set pattern. But I like how it looks more complicated than it actually is. Glad you do, too!

Thank you! That was my first attempt at the Fair Isle or stranding technique, and I was very pleased with how well it came out. I'll definitely be trying some other designs in that technique soon.

I can nearly work out the chart for the robot motif, but do you have it anywhere so I don't have to count stitches? I think I need to make a robot hat....

These are wonderful! I love seeing how proficient you've gotten. Yay, knitting!

Thank you! I only have the chart on paper, but it will be quick enough to type up, so I'll email you.

I shall model the hat soon enough. And yes, nena_nieve, the basketweave is excellent. It makes the hat all fat and cushy warm. The photograph does not do it justice. Many thanks, again, lunacow, for the lovely hat.

I'd love to knit with you, and see what you're working on. I'll bet we can find someone to occupy Linc and free up your hands for a bit.
