Idina Menzel review

Okay, so I was given this album to review, and I promised to review it, so here goes. I'm not very good at this sort of thing, but I'll try my best. This album is pretty good. Idina sure has a set of pipes. Her voice is clear, pure, and she doesn't rely on a whole lot of melisma which is refreshing. The first and title song was catchy and made me feel a bit empowered. I wonder if she grew up like I did because she sings, "I stand for the strange and lonely." It's just kind of cool that someone like her grew up that way. I listened to this a couple of times, but much as I adore Idina herself, and her voice is just incredible, I didn't really identify with any other song than I Stand. It just seemed very Broadway, and it didn't seem that her personality showed through even though she wrote the lyrics. But that's just me. It's definitely worth a listen just to hear her voice.
