Wanted: simple silicon life-form for adoption

Anyone got a basic PC setup hanging around? Nothing fancy, just capable of running Office, a browser, some light Java, that sort of thing. No need for peripherals ( Read more... )

What parts are needed? I upgraded last year and still have the old motherboard and cpu. Joey has it's old RAM though.

Which machine was it that died anyway?

It was actually Greg's housemate's machine; it would need a motherboard, CPU, ram to fit the board, and a new power supply. It was a GQ machine (Great Quality! meh.)

It turns out that someone from lily had an old 1U rack-mount P4 hanging around; we're getting that up and running, though I'm not sure we're going to be able to coax Windows to use the RAID controller for hard drives. It has one open IDE slot, which we're using for now; finding a RAID driver can wait for a bit.

Sucker's LOUD, though.
