Why do you already have a Christmas list? It's March, Lovegood. And exposing ones arse to the scottish tailor was popular four years ago. Tell the second years to do something more original with their time. I would do it myself but I no longer have prefecting privileges.

i do not actually have an official christmas list
but an effective threat it remains

how did i miss this trend?
sir cadogan informs me that his reaction is
"almost as good as slaying a dragon"
though my own philosophy on dragons is closer to
"make friends and never need to carry a wand"

Christmas lists should be exclusive anyway. There are certainly no professors on mine--excepting those who I happen to be related to.

Dragons shouldn't be slayed. As creatures, they are rather fascinating. And certainly more fierce and immpressive than Hippogriffs. Why would anyone not carry a wand in the presence of a dragon?

be assured, my unofficial list is quite selective
oh, that reminds me, i did receive your thank you owl this january
the stationery was so lovely i wanted to send you a thank you note for the thank you note, but i'm terrified of inescapable cycles

if the dragon was your friend why would you need one? except to conjure dragon-treats. hagrid always says most dragons he's seen were friendlier than his dog fluffy. perhaps their fierceness is grossly overstated.

Thank you notes for thank you notes is a waste of fine parchment, and there are enough inescapable cycles in the world as is. But it is well-mannered of you to mention it. So I will be well-mannered in return and thank you for your thank you of my thank you.

Fluffy? You must mean Fang. I had to serve detention in the Forbidden Forest with Fang and Potter in my first year and even drooling, whimpering Fang was less fearful of the place than Potter was.

If Dragons were not entirely fierce and vicious I do not think they would have been involved in the Tri-wizard Tournament. And you'll note that neither Diggory, Potter, Delacour, or Krum were able to best the dragons while wandless.

thank you

yes. much of my dragon theory is... theory. that tournament was very exciting. why does everything always have to turn out
sad?

Think about the barely-touching sun and the too-cold grass then, Lovegood.

perhaps after i console the scottish tailor i will think about a great many things

a great many things that are too cold
and some are very warm still

and i wonder if the voldemort himself ever lay with his arms outstretched in the sun and tried to count every prickly point of contact
or if he still does

perhaps i shall not stop thinking until i fall asleep there
and when i wake up he will have made me a new dress from parts of this old one

God. The answer to those sorts of wonderings is obvious, and, really, like wondering why the sun is too cold on Mars but too hot on Venus but supposedly just right here and yet I have over TWENTY winter cloaks for some reason, which is fine as they are all well-made garments, really.

If you want a new dress you should just ask Pansy. I wouldn't trust a Scot to sew straight.

dividing that number by four
your particular excess quotient
five winter cloaks is still too many
yes

he's not irish, sockman
though perhaps bed is a better destination

No, I need every last one of those cloaks.

Not Welsh, at least. Bed is my destination--whatever yours is, good night.
