We Remember 2-14-08

Getting off from I-88, entering DeKalb at the Anne Glidden exit,
There was a huge sign of the NIU Huskie.

So I am back here at NIU.
Counselors were invited to come in every class to talk about the events-
with handouts and welcoming questions.
I had picked up the school's newspaper, not having a chance to read it yet.
Local communities donated drinks and delights such as brownies, cookies, and doughnuts.

As I was walking towards the Holmes Center, I sneaked at peak at Cole Hall.
I'll be passing that by as I go to DuSable later on.
Television crews are still around, focusing on the first day back, stopping students if they would like to share their thoughts and feelings.

I approached Holmes, pausing at the crosses of the victims.
Flowers. A Plethora of Flowers.
A little further, there were Individuals offering "Free hugs".
I stopped by the many walls of outpouring support from the community and students

Grabbing a black sharpie, I wrote on one of them with my support:
"My prayers go to the victims and their families. Stay Strong Huskies! A.Lopez" with hearts besides the message.

It's overwhelming.

niu, school, news
