Yamazaki Hiroyo is a Japanese reporter on entertainment news. This is apparently from his blog post...and I think he's trying to clear up some fan misunderstanding about the news and about the members' words being taken out of context.

i.e. the press conference was NOT given in context of the announcement of Akanishi quitting.

KAT-TUN Tokyo Dome first day

This morning Sports news reported...Akanishi's quitting the group!
All the fans are shocked, right.
But, this is what Akanishi wants to do.
Just because the direction he wants to go is different to that of KAT-TUN's......
It can't be helped, and the only thing is to continue to support.

Then, as for the comments from the 5 members of KAT-TUN on Akanishi
I watched this morning's news program...it seems a little misunderstood
In reality, the group interview took place before the concert officially began
We were amongst the media group too, and we didn't know...that Akanishi was going to quit
And so, the question had been "This time, the five people concert..."
Kamenashi said, "It's not the first time holding a concert with five people, because it's the second time, so the damage is less than the last."
I think this is definitely not a hostile statement
And he smiled as he said, "Where Akanishi is concerned if he says he has something he wants to do, then we should just try letting him do it"
But, just as I said before, at that time we still didn't know Akanishi was going to quit.
Now looking back...this is the resolve of those five people
And there were many words in which we could feel the thoughts they wanted to get across to fans.

Kamenashi said, "We want to make the five people (concert) successful. From this moment on. (To the fans) We are filled with apology, it is a very important time now on for our growth as KAT-TUN, so we won't disband."
Koki said, "We won't (let KAT-TUN) disband!"
And he added, "(Akanishi in America) Succeeded by himself, how can we (five) fail!"
Not realising the extent of this resolution...
I asked a mild question, "Will Akanishi come to Tokyo Dome to watch?"
Kamenashi, "He hasn't contacted us yet."
Koki asked back, "Is he even in Japan?"
He added, "There's been no contact, because he didn't pay his phone bills so his service got cut"
The members laughed, "That's so like him (laughs)"
But Nakamaru interjected emphatically,
"There's no plans for a meet up. Because he won't join us."
Because of Nakamaru's interjection, I was somewhat surprised, but that may have been in consideration for those Akanishi fans who were wondering "Maybe he will come?"
In any case, to the fans, Kamenashi indicated, "Full of apology"
When the press conference finished
He said as he smiled, "It feels like it's become an apology conference."
Expressing the feeling of holding those fans who support them as very precious

In reality, during the concert, the members came down from the stage to shake hands and clap hands with fans, it's easy to feel their full overflowing gratitude. Even more so, it's easy to feel the strength of the bond between the five people.
